2021-12-27 08:55:45 +0000 UTCYou misunderstand, the resistance cap of 7.5k makes it so that a 10k hit does 2.5k to his armor's durability. Which is enormous. Only when the durability is used up will Rain take health damage.

2021-12-27 08:09:40 +0000 UTCThe fight might be more complicated than expected. Sure, the other guy can't hurt Rain through Force Ward, but on the other hand can Rain hurt him with a sword? He has no Sword skills. He can have a lot of Strength via the ring but that might not go far enough with no support against someone who can hypothetically take hits from silvers or even high bronze. Also, he definitely can't take off Force Ward because I think without it that hit would have one shot him even through 7500 resist. Depends how the ring is allocated I guess, back in 177 with semi balanced ring Rain had 1700 max hp. Which is high for a level 30 caster, since most have very limited strength item choices and the ring is about as many total stats as you would have from leveling to 30 so Dynamo restrictions are irrelevant. Items are pretty busted and the system is super lethal. I'm also kind of curious what 9999 damage to the shoulder would look like vs a normal person. Would it actually be nonlethal or would you straight up explode? Seems rough when a silver plate can challenge a bronze plate to a fight and the bronze plate can't say no.

2021-12-27 05:53:38 +0000 UTCWell, I get what you're saying. It's not a high output webfic, Senescent has a demanding day-job I take it from his previous updates. And also yeah some of the dialogue feels a bit weird. But the interactions also feel somewhat 'realistic' considering its a completely different culture, and these people (like gus and silver-scum) have their own lives going on off-page. I can somewhat agree with your frustration on that topic but it is what it is at this point. Some people have complained in the past that what the story has turned into isn't what they signed up for. But at this point you can see that it's not a fast paced story and we aren't gonna see Rain power level to plat any time soon. You can make your own decision whether it's worth continuing as a Patron on the balance of cost vs output, the story and author aren't pretending to be anything they're not at this point. I've considered stopping for a couple months just to be able to read a long backlog, because I think this is a story that's best consumed in a binge-like fashion after a lot has been written. But personally, it's still my favourite webfic, and I follow a fair number of them, and I'll be continuing to subscribe because as good as it would be to binge, I enjoy reading it as soon as i possibly can.

They need to work hard to salvage that ship (I remember a comment in previous chapter speculating for Rain to use refrigeration to freeze the ocean as a possible solution to get to underwater lair) so as long as it is close enough to shore (it should be as it was attacking the place) it should be possible to get pieces. It would be really interesting if history looks back on how the beginning of the end of the Adamant empire was when Rain and Ascension left Fel Sadanis and they lost their second chance to strangle them in their crib by the commander not chasing them down with their legion. Granted, such a decision should have been right considering they had other things to do than hunt down a rogue force of refugees and criminals but hindsight and history say otherwise. Of course this is assuming Ascension will almost certainly clash with the Empire much later and bring it to its knees and break it (you won’t bend? Then break!).

Considering she went off somewhere (maybe tried to get a ship in DKE territory and intended to head to Karmark, the place ruled by high king Kev who is platinum, but was stonewalled by politics or something) and her speed, she would probably have a harder time with directions than safety. In any case, with the proper time and resources, Rain and ascension are more than capable of making a small fleet if need be. Good thing this is a port and thus there should be some sailors willing to lend their expertise for passage (assuming they don’t join Ascension). Velika still wants Tallheart to make a sword as her “fourth sword” is little better than a paddle (she will need to collect own materials, plus stuff for his armor and not use it against cervidians). Though this is assuming it is her here, it would be difficult to have her join Ascension (she likely isn’t a racist and for better or worse embodies the competent adventurer stereotype) without having at least one other gold level force to keep her in line (unless they grow on her and she appreciates their potential). That isn’t to say she can’t travel with them short term in return for various things: she lends her power to collect resources and help protect and they give her passage, food and items; plus maybe a healer who can deal with scars if they run into a high enough lair and they practice enough to not make it worse. Would be awkward if she and Carten meet again (though it isn’t like she wouldn’t be up for a casual three way).

Slicing a metal ship in half? Either the ship wasn't properly enchanted or there was some damage limit fuckery going on. I do appreciate the worldbuilding, Rain's been away from proper civilization for too long. Enjoy your break, SS, and try to get a backlog going. And I doubt it would be interesting to you to have a leveling Montage of rain just sitting on the tank and being repeatedly hit by a stick to train force ward. Also pretty cool if we get to see Velika again. Maybe she is farming a lair or something to come up to her cap. She would have to be gold by now, probably. Maybe not if she needs to get her last skills maxed for specializations.

I understand that the holidays and the end of the year have taken out your buffer but I just can't get into sub 20 page chapters. I will just read them 2 at a time. This chapter seems like a lot of cross talk where no one communicates clearly. Who is Gus again? The guild healer maybe? Having most of his skills cap off screen takes away the incremental progress that I enjoy in litRPG. If he went through 2 mil XP is he level capped again? Do you have the tier 4 skill trees done? I like to know what the character is building towards. Why does this one dude want to fight Rain? Hopefully his personality will change when the fight is over because I am not a fan. All of this is just how I feel. I am not trying to attack you in any way. I am not even really trying to influence the direction of the story. I started reading because I liked what you wrote and if I wanted to control every aspect of a story I would write my own. Thanks for another year of great content and I will see you next year.
