It was also nice to see Fitz completely willing to jump out of the plane to try and save her without giving it a second thought even though that totally not in his skillset (at least not that they've shown up to this point anyway). It was a such quick and clever way to show their bond and made for a really nice moment. Especially since it was brought up later when Fitz kind of felt like the moment was stolen from him when Ward got to be the hero yet again.

2023-05-07 19:50:30 +0000 UTCI think that it is safe to say that most fans cite this episode as the one that sold them on the show. The interactions between the core team continue to be built upon just like it would in any new group. And even though the focus this episode is focused on Simmons (like Coulson in ep 4 and Skye in ep 5) everyone gets their moment to shine. It is tough to give everyone equal opportunities in an ensemble cast as the 'combative' team have more to do than the 'techies', so it was nice that they focused on FitzSimmons. It was genius to put Simmons in danger as Whedon shows have a tendancy to kill off cast members and Lil was the lowest credit actor on the show, so it could have happened but fortunately didnt. Loved the fact that Simmons, even though not fit for field work, was willing to sacrifice herself to save the team and the first thing she did after being saved was to confess to Ward about the night night gun! The main storyline are a little weak but they had to fill time until the Winter Soldier release.

2023-05-07 19:47:28 +0000 UTCBest episode of early season one in my opinion! The episode where the team really begins to feel like a team, and dare I say, a family? It showcases all their different dynamics and personalities so well. And of course in particular it develops FitzSimmons brilliantly from just comic relief to fully realised characters, all in just one episode - pretty impressive stuff! FitzSimmons go on to become my favourite characters, and this is just the start of it. So glad you were so invested. The season (and the show) just gets better and better as it goes on, with both plot and characters. Also I totally understand your feelings about May at this point. She’s harder to love at this stage of the show, but she becomes (like all the characters) much more developed as things go on, and much more investable/loveable. I wonder if your thoughts on her might change! Loved this reaction, can’t wait for the next! :)
