âSo, you were in Braavos after leaving DragonstoneâŠâ Jon commented. He knew that his uncle and his newborn aunt had escaped Westeros and gone to Essos, but he didnât know the details. Now he could gather some information from the timid girl in front of him.
âYes⊠we stayed there for a while, until Ser Willem Darry diedâŠâ she murmured, looking down at Jon with fear still present in her gaze.
It was strange how the entire place seemed silent, and if this stranger claiming to be her relative was an assassin, as she feared, she hoped the guards would enter the room.
âI know youâre afraidâŠâ Jon said, seeing the girlâs discomfort. âI will listen to your story and then leave.â He spoke finally, realizing that he wouldnât be able to have a conversation with her otherwise.
âAll rightâŠâ She trembled slightly upon hearing this from him, as if he could read her mind. But she didnât realize how easy it was for Jon to read her behavior as she kept glancing constantly at the door.
âFirst, eat the fruit⊠it wonât harm you as you imagine. After all, if I wanted to do that, I wouldnât bother preparing poison.â Jon mocked as she nodded reluctantly and eventually obeyed, taking the grapes, clearly giving in to her hunger.
âThatâs good⊠now you can continue about your life after your guardian died until you reached Pentos?â Jon continued, satisfied that she had finally touched the food after noticing how hungry she was.
âYes⊠we had a hard time after that⊠since we were robbed by the servants of the house⊠living as beggars.â Daenerys continued, recounting her experience in Braavos, how she and Viserys became beggars. He had even sold Jonâs grandmotherâs crown to survive, while assassins began to pursue them constantly.
Viserys sought support from other people and managed to get some at first, but everyone eventually abandoned them after getting to know him. His personality wasnât very good even then, and it made their lives much more difficult, until they found their final sponsor, this Illyrio of Pentos.
âI understand⊠youâve been through a lot. But I see this marriage as something very bad⊠after all, Dothraki hardly cross the sea⊠Youâll just become a khaleesi and spend the rest of your life in the desert⊠Is that what you expect? To bear children for barbaric men while they raid villages and cities?â Jon asked.
ââŠâ Daenerys didnât respond at first to Jonâs conclusion, though she managed to hold his gaze, showing a hint of anger at his words, which were clearly offensive.
âViserys will take the throneâŠâ she said, but couldnât maintain much courage when she saw Jon looking at her calmly. That gaze managed to instill some fear in Daenerys.
âYes⊠your brother is intelligent enough to marry his own sister to barbarians for a promise that has no precedent⊠after all, the Dothraki fear the seaâŠâ Jon mocked before standing up, seeing that he couldnât talk to her any further in this way. Daenerys looked surprised as he moved to leave.
âAnyway⊠you can eat the rest. Itâs just light food. If you fear angering your brother, I donât think youâll get fat from a few grapes⊠Either way, I have one last proposal for you.â Jon said while the girl remained silent.
âI wonât try to convince you to come with me⊠because thatâs not how I act. Still, youâre my aunt. Your brother is not someone I intend to help after what Iâve seen⊠but you can get out of this situation.â Jon commented, and he was interrupted by the girl with a slightly nervous voice.
âWhat do you mean by that?â she asked.
âIâm saying I can help you avoid this marriage, and this may be your last chance. But Iâll let you think about it. After all, I wonât force you. Tomorrow, I will appear at your wedding with a gift. If you want me to get you out of there, use the word⊠letâs see⊠Dragonborn. Say Dragonborn as soon as I appear. I will challenge the Khal before your marriage is concluded and kill him,â Jon said.
âYou will challenge him? But heâs Khal Drogo⊠I heard he is extremely powerfulâŠâ she murmured, unable to look him in the eyes.
âThatâs because you donât know meâŠâ Jon smiled.
âHow did you find usâŠ?â After hearing that, and after a few seconds of silence, she asked curiously. After all, her location shouldnât have been easy to find; even the assassins hadnât managed it.
âI was in Winterfell until this morning. I met the King of Westeros and my âbelovedâ uncle in the last few days,â Jon ironized the last part.
âYou met him?â Daenerys looked at him in surprise upon hearing that.
âNot in the way you imagine⊠Iâm going to take revenge on him as well, but I wanted to see himâŠâ Jon spoke before his face turned more serious. âBut he isnât the only one⊠It seems that this Illyrio has ended up using you in some power game. After all, he knows very well the consequences of marrying a Dothraki,â Jon said.
âWhat are you going to do?â Daenerys looked a little frightened upon hearing that.
âI intend to kill him⊠but I will be nearby to protect you. That is until I give you a gift, because after you refuse my help and think that your brotherâs path is better, I wonât interfere in your life anymore,â Jon said.
âAnd Viserys⊠what will happen to him?â Daenerys was a little concerned upon hearing that he planned to kill Illyrio.
âI donât intend to help him. Iâve already seen what kind of person he is, and I have no desire to assist him, but I wonât kill him. Iâll leave him to deal with his own circumstancesâŠâ Jon said.
âAnd why are you helping me thenâŠ?â she asked again, not understanding why the stranger claiming to be her relative wanted to help her.
âBecause I want you to take the Iron ThroneâŠâ Jon thought and continued. âBecause it would be good for our family not to be destroyed in the middle of the desertâŠâ Jon said at last. It was still an opportunity for her to have a better life than this.
ââŠâ She fell silent after that, and Jon simply began to leave the room, heading for the door. Daenerys was relieved that nothing had happened to her as her gaze settled on Jonâs back moving away. That made her think of something she had overlooked.
âYou said you were in Winterfell todayâŠ? How is that possible?â she asked, stunned. She knew Winterfell was the Stark stronghold and should be thousands of miles away.
âSimple, by traveling very quickly through the skyâŠâ Jon paused to answer her with a smile. His dragon could reach 200 to 400 kilometers per hour in the sky. So traveling more than 2 to 3 thousand kilometers during an entire day wasnât that difficult. âAnd what does that meanâŠâ Jon continued, looking at her. âIt means that I have a dragon.â
With that, he opened the door and left, closing it behind him.
ââŠâ Daenerys remained silent, not knowing what to say after what she had heard. Even so, Jon, or rather, as he introduced himself, Daemon Targaryen, was no longer there, leaving her alone with her thoughts.
âI want everything organized for tomorrow. Are we understood?â Illyrio spoke to the head of the guard and a servant who were organizing things alongside the Dothraki for the wedding.
Both left while he remained alone in his solar, with some trade documents spread out on his table, but mainly a few letters from his contacts in Westeros. He waited for the two to leave before beginning to write a letter.
âThe plan is all set. Soon the Targaryen girl will be destined to go to the desert, and Viserys will accompany her. I just donât know if he will last long after that. Either way, the Targaryens are out of this game,â he wrote calmly.
âI see⊠you have a few people working for you in WesterosâŠâ a voice suddenly appeared. Illyrio looked up, startled, to find a man with violet eyes staring at the paper written in his hand.
âWhoâŠâ He barely had time to react before feeling his body being lifted, slamming against the wall behind his desk with force, unable to understand what was happening, letting out a dazed groan.
Jon had raised one hand to throw him with telekinesis and took the small parchment letter with the other. âI think Iâll take thisâŠâ Jon spoke calmly, pocketing the paper.
âWho are you?! Guards!!â Illyrio was a little dizzy, but as soon as he recovered, he found himself suspended some distance from the ground, being pressed against the wall by something he couldnât understand. He saw the stranger standing in front of his desk. His first thought was to shout for the Unsullied, who were supposed to be guarding his door.
âYou can scream all you want⊠they wonât come to youâŠâ Jon mocked, pressing him further, making Illyrio let out a groan of pain.
âWho are youâŠâ For the third time, the question was asked, and fear filled Illyrioâs eyes, not understanding what was happening as the stranger raised his hand, seemingly creating this force.
âIf you want to know so badly⊠I am Daemon Targaryen, son of the she-wolf of the North⊠and Iâm here to understand why you want to get rid of the TargaryensâŠâ Jon said.
âWhatâŠ?!â Illyrio murmured and felt his body being crushed even more.
âWorry about answering my question,â Jon mocked, increasing the pressure.
âYou⊠this is impossibleâŠâ The man ignored the pressure to say that to Jon.
âWhatever⊠Youâre trying to get rid of the siblings, arenât you?â Jon asked once more.
âThatâs not true. Viserys wanted an army to conquer Westeros, and I gave him the opportunityâŠâ he murmured with some difficulty.
âDo you really want to lie here? Isnât it a bit too late after I read whatâs written in this letter?â Jon said, while Illyrio fell silent, not knowing what to say. His fear of the stranger and the situation was the only thing left in his eyes.
âYou know what? I donât care anymore about your motives. In the end, it wonât change anything.â Jon decided this was a waste of time and that he would deal with this man coldly. After all, he had already made up his mind to do so.
Jon was arrogant. He didnât care about whatever plans his enemies had against him, whether in terms of strength or otherwise. Politics, however, was something he hated, and he dealt with his enemies there the same way he would on a battlefield.
Jon watched as the man began to turn pale, feeling his life slip away in the next moment.
âWait!â Illyrio exclaimed, but Jon had already closed his fist. In the next instant, Illyrio didnât even have time to react as his neck snapped, his head twisting with the power of telekinesis. A sharp sound echoed through the room, followed by the thud of the body collapsing to the floor, motionless.
âShould I burn the place?â Jon murmured, not caring about Illyrio anymore. But he thought that would be somewhat reckless. âNo⊠I think itâs better not to. The wedding will happen anyway. Iâll wait for Daenerysâ answer.â
Jon shrugged, grabbed all the documents Illyrio had and stored them in his dimensional space. Then, he left the room without looking back, heading for the personal vault of the placeâafter all, it would be a waste not to seize the gold after taking down this man.
Daenerys was lying awake in her bed. While she was trying to sleep, she heard someone knocking on the door. She immediately got up, expecting someone to enter, but what she saw was a small letter being slid underneath the door. With nothing else to do, she walked over to it.
She bent down, picked up the parchment, and opened it. Her heart raced as she realized it was the same letter Illyrio had been writing to his mysterious contact in Westeros, treating her and her brother like pieces in a game, players now removed from the board.

Raccoon Here: I wonât have Jon take the dragon eggs. After all, he is the Dragonborn, and it would be a waste for him not to be able to use the dragon-slayer power without having a dragon as an enemy.
