TalKing of the Hill - Luanne's Saga

Luanne finally gets her own story in this surprisingly emotional fifth episode about bad boyfriends and father figures. After Buckley breaks up with her, Luanne is inconsolable until Hank steps in with with his strategy of emotional repression. But will his attempt to set Luanne up with a quick-fix rebound relationship backfire when Boomhauer seemingly enters the picture? This first episode with Chuck Mangione will make you laugh, will make you cry, and "feels so good" to listen to!
White gravy (unless there are visible sausage bits in it) is usually vegetarian! It's mostly milk and flour. Some people may add animal fat drippings but it's not a requirement. Brown gravy is always made from drippings (unless specified otherwise, like mushroom gravy). Doesn't have to be beef-based -- turkey gravy is extremely common.
I've often seen debates over which type of gravy is best, but I say they're both great depending on the usage. Using white gravy for poutine would be wrong, and a popular diner here once served biscuits 'n' gravy with brown gravy, which I'm sure someone like Hank Hill would be horrified to see.

Each episode of this show makes me progressively less concerned with the politics of it, as someone who never watched a lot of it in its original run, and while I do like Office Space and Beavis & Butthead, didn't know much about Mike Judge's personal life, so stuff like that Alex Jones interview left lingering concerns in my brain. But this show is actually really good in general, and when it deals with any kind of social topic, so far it's done it in a level-headed and good way

As a dad of a 4 year old myself, I feel like I have to partially defend Disneyland Dad. Taking my boy into a public restroom is a stressful activity because he's going to want to touch everything. It's so gross. We just went to Disney World in January, and having a kid that age is sort of like having a time bomb when it comes to potty time. You have an internal clock and you know the kid probably has to pee, but he doesn't want to because he doesn't want to miss anything and you're just trying to get him to go before he does it in his pants. Though I agree, screaming "Pee for me!" at your kid probably does you no favors in the long run, but I can totally empathize with the guy. I look forward to the day when I don't have to remind my kid to use the bathroom constantly.

As much as people grief on The Office now, the comparison to King of the Hill is pretty apt. A majority of the show is really good TV and it is very specific to the humor of the mundane. Any time it escalates, it does so in a very possible real-life way. The impact Paul Lieberstein and Greg Daniels had on King of the Hill carries on very well to their live action content.
Also, I can really feel the passion Bob and Henry have for King of the Hill, so it'd be great if you could cover more seasons. There are so many incredible episodes between Seasons 1-4.

I always loved that acting on whenever Luann cries, my favorite moment being in the season (4?) Opener where Peggy is recovering from her fall and every time Luann comes into the room to see her she just cries hysterically

Godmanit, it's time for ShyRanger's Syndication Shitstorm. I have really only watched these shows in syndication because that's what I had, and I'm constantly learning what I missed out on, and I will complain bout it anytime it really stands out. Near the end, Peggie's big speech about opening Pandora's box and all the weird things going on during it, ALL of that was cut and I've never heard it until now.

The vaguely doo-wop instrumental at the end is almost certainly an homage/knockoff of "Sleep Walk", a 1959 #1 for Santo and Johnny Farina: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz01-S5L8Q8

As someone who also had a deadbeat dad, and then sort of betrayed by subsequent father figures, this episode really choked me up too. The ending is so nice though. Luanne is my favorite character in the series, and I think she goes through some really interesting growth. I really Hope Bob and Henry go past season 1 at one some point in the future, because I’d love to hear their take on the spiritual sequel to this one where Leanne, Luanne’s mom shows up. It’s actually sort of a heartbreaking episode, but like this one it has a really sweet ending and helps cement Luanne’s place in the Hill family
