What A Cartoon Movie! - Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

Hey... It's a friendly neighborhood podcast for all our wonderful listeners to close out April 2019! Henry and Bob go through the most recent Oscar winner for Best Animated Picture, and discuss just how great the most Spider-Man-iest movie of all time is. We go through the many comic book inspirations for Miles Morales' origin story, we talk through the film's many super deep Easter Eggs, and we pick apart a multiverse of wall crawling action across this epic podcast! Listen now true believers, (or whenever, because Einstein said time is relative)!

Bouncing in three years late to tell nobody in particular that Peni Parker was created by Gerard Way of all people. Her robot looks way cooler in the comic but I imagine it’s ripped off of something.

I have an answer to where Peter #1/Spider-Man’s body was found. They dumped his body in front of the Daily Bugle. https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieDetails/comments/btjg8v/in_spiderman_into_the_spiderverse_the_newspaper/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app

The added touch of this film making spider sense extend to recognizing fellow spiderpeople kinda reminded me of how in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure stand users just seem to have this extrasensory ability to pick out enemy stand users. Other than that, I don't have much to add to a great episode about this great film. I've been a spidey fan for most of my life and it really made me happy that they really got the right tone for the character for once. I didn't hate the Raimi films but they made Peter Parker such a sadboi all the time and it felt like his quips were an afterthought.

Haven't seen Arthur Christmas, but there actually is an Elf Bowling movie and it's exactly as terrible as you would expect: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460811/

Here's hoping Aladdin finally wins for May...would be perfect since the remake's coming out too...and if they plan it right, they can discuss both!

Henry you have forgotten that Nicolas Cage won an Oscar over twenty years ago for Leaving Las Vegas - right before he became an action star. And not only did he name his kid Kal-El, he voiced Superman just last year in Teen Titans Go To The Movies. How many actors can say they played Superman AND Spider-Man *in the same year*? (Also, Liev Scheiber has a Tony but has never even been nominated for an Oscar - surprisingly!)

I like the Spider-Ham origin in a recent Spider-Man series: Peter Porker was eating a stack of his aunt's super vitamin-enriched pancakes. The spider craweled into the stack, and Peter ate both.

I think I'm the only person in the universe (besides two of my friends) whose response to this movie was kind of "eh" but I'm not going to spend time explaining my issues here now. I'll just say I am VERY GLAD an animated superhero movie got some decent money behind it and did well so that we can finally get some WELL-PRODUCED, EXPENSIVE, THEATRICAL Marvel & DC movies again, after dog shit like The Killing Joke.

I really enjoyed this week's episode of Talking Spiderman. Can't wait for the next one.

Also im a little dissapointed to find the added tooth gap and upturned nose where made to make Gwen less attractive those are bout features I find endearing

Kris

So i love that when the three are telling their backstory at the same time noir and penni pause and look over to Spider hams panel when he says he was bit by a radioactive pig
