Talking Simpsons - They Saved Lisa's Brain With Podcast: The Ride

This week's episode is all about nerds coming together, so we called together the amazing nerds of Podcast: The Ride - Scott Gairdner, Mike Carlson, and Jason Sheridan! All three help us with chat about Mensa, pudding, the dangers of nerds AND random guest stars, among many other tangents. So listen now or else we'll make litter out of you literati!

If podcasts were comic books, this would be the ultimate DC-Marvel crossover. This. Is why I give you Patreon money.

Despite this Simpson episode being fairly medicore, this podcast episode was excellent and should hopefully abate some fears about when we reach the truly bad years

There’s a later episode where Stan Lee calls out Comic Book Guy for stalking Linda Carter, so yes he WOULD be #MeToo-d in the real world. Also good on you guys for calling out Devin Faraci, he’s still such a shit even as a “reformed buddhist reviewer”

I like how this podcast episode really lived up to its nerd theme, "nee nee nee!" That was cute. I remember in my gifted/enrichment classes, we did a lot of puzzles. There was a bit of trailing off and mumbling in the first part of the episode when you all were ragging on Shia LeBoeuf.

In Ontario, gifted class is called Enrichment. I only got to go once because there was limited budget and I was only smart in math. There were more well rounded smart kids in my class who got to go instead.

Dog racing is basically over now as of this year, which is kinda cool honestly? I say kinda only because it should have been sooner. Similarly to Henry, Connecticut for whatever reason had a ton of dog racing tracks so when I saw it on the Simpsons I just figured it was super normal (albeit super scummy) good deadspin did a great article on it https://www.google.com/amp/s/deadspin.com/dog-racing-died-without-a-funeral-1837444498/amp

This article sums up the whole Jamie Loftus/Mensa situation pretty well: https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2018/10/mensa-update-one-of-them-threatened-to-kill-me-and.html. Basically she wrote an article making fun of Mensa after getting in, and then was harassed and threatened by an unmoderated Mensa sanctioned Facebook group for months. The whole story is fascinating and disturbing, I would definitely recommend taking a look. (Also, check out her podcast The Bechdel Cast if you get a chance)

You do NOT want any part of Santa Con. Or New York Comic Con. Or any NYC con. Unless you want to experience new breeds of B.O. and other human filth.

hahaha, damn. I'd be mad as hell too, if I won that. That technicality is such BS on the station's part, but unsurprising

The radio contest sceaction reminds me of something that happened near where I lived i live in manitoba canada we have a small town near their named miami manitoba during one of the super bowl a radio contest said that you could win a ticket to see the superbowl called in ‘’miami’’ which they did but to a bar in miami manitoba the station got sued by several people but the station won because they never said which miami

A pretty cool Retronauts crossover fact about Stephen Hawking is that code from the open-source SNES emulator, higan, was used to software emulate his voicebox and he used that version for the the last couple years of his life.See the "Professor Stephen Hawking" section of https://byuu.org/about for more info!

Always enjoyed the B-plot a little more than the A in this episode. It was always sorta cure that Homer wanted to pose for Marge, but she ultimately was more interested in how he decorated the basement for the pics, lol

Merry Christmas 🎄 everybody 😃
