I was an enormous fan of the Spongebob original run and this movie did feel like the culmination of the series, even if at times it can't sustain the pace of some of the best shorts. I did feel the change of creative hands when the new episodes were produced and was somewhat angered by the change, likely due to other major changes in my life coinciding with this (ahem, puberty). I'm glad to say my frustration never boiled over into online harassment of the new showrunners but there were some YouTubers who took nasty, personal, hyperbolic shots at them. I now have better things going for me, so Spongebob continuing to run is much the same as The SImpsons. I don't care to watch new episodes, I got what I wanted from the series and have those episodes to return to, but it's nothing to be upset about. Though I do harbour concerns over the planned spinoff, something Hillenburg was explicitly against.

Oh wow I am almost 10 years younger than you guys I was 14 when this movie came out when you guys mentioned SpongeBob battle for bikini bottom and thrust me back to my early high school days playing this game forever alongside my brother we would pass the controller between us whenever one of us died more than three times I specifically remember the bubble wand torpedo where your POV in the game became the flying torpedo when you had to maneuver around the screen and blow up everything in your path in the correct order it was a really awesome game and I highly recommend at least Bob to try it out and maybe even review it for Retronauts! :)
