Couldn't even articulate many thoughts because it was just so horrible to watch!

Oh, I forgot... you mentioned the different language in the marriage rite, about “who claims this woman” (I think that’s the language). This is because (I think) they were married according to the old gods, worshipped in the north, and not according to the new gods (the seven) worshipped in the south. I don’t know if you recall, back in episode 1, when Ned is cleaning his sword under the same tree he and Cat have a little exchange about her gods versus his. This is also why people say “I swear it by the old gods and the new.”

I was really looking forward to your analysis of this episode because your sensitivity to social issues brings a lot of insight. It’s a rough one. Dorne is just, well, Dorne. But Sansa.... that scene is a wrecker for sure, and it got a lot of criticism. I’m torn on it. It’s horrifying, but rape is, and should appear that way. I’m frankly more pissed about Danerys and Drogo’s wedding night, because it’s different in the books, and everyone was super okay with this romantic story of Daenerys and Drogo falling in love after he raped her. As for Sansa, I think there were certain realities that the show had to deal with. It’s not like Ramsay was going to respect her, he’s certainly no Tyrion, and so I’m not sure what viewers expected when they married. I think the focus on Theon’s face is supposed to be a middle ground that communicates the horror to us without making a graphic rape scene, but superficially it seems to make it about Theon’s anguish instead of Sansa’s. So, like I said, I’m torn. I’d of course rather this not be a plot device at all, but once you marry a woman to a monster, what else is going to happen?

Don't worry, your love for Got will be restored soon enough. On a side note, don't forget that blond guy who testified against Loras (I think his name is Oliver maybe?) works for Littlefinger. Just saying...

Yeah, most of us consider this one to be the absolute worst written GoT episode, at least out of the ones you have seen so far. That terrible fight scene with the sand snakes and the last scene had everyone walking away with a gross taste in our mouths for a while. Hang in there.
