And Gohan, Android 18 and the soldiers at the Royal Army Weapons Research Base have their hands full dealing with a now returned and far more powerful Garlic Jr...

Fanfans style channels ki internally and can manipulate it in other sources, but the trade off is they cant fly or project it externally. Nappa could theoretically go back to using ki externally, but he loses the advantages it affords him. A person can learn both, but it is extremely difficult, because the fundamentals are different.
