I will be taking a break from responding to messages.

Responding to messages is something that I pride myself on. I really love getting to know you all. I love little hellos in the morning and pleasant little things throughout the day. So many of you who have been to me for years take the time to message me once a month and give me a little life check in. I adore those messages and hearing about what your families are up to, what you’re doing in your creative life etc.

However, lately - these aren’t the messages I’m getting. Messages seem to be heavier and heavier and I often question why I’m the person receiving them. I understand that this has been a very hard year. I, just like all of you have been through the ringer. We are all dealing with our own mental health troubles, we are questioning the world, the future, our existence. We are trying to find daily habits that make things seem “normal” or give us any type of comfort.

It’s understandable that as a whole we would be looking to have deeper conversations, questioning our beliefs and looking for different tools in order to help us cope. I personally have found the best place for those types of conversations is in therapy.

And to say it very plainly - I am not a therapist.

I am going through everything that you are going through. We never know other peoples struggles. I don’t know yours and you don’t know mine. I operate everyday with the thought that we could all use a lot of kindness and understanding as we navigate everything that’s going on around us. I try to show people that kindness however, right now people are leaning on me too much.

If you are someone who has been messaging me daily, please understand that you will no longer be getting daily replies. I have also sent out a couple messages to some that have expressed that I will not be responding to that conversation specifically. This doesn’t mean that I’m mad or that I don’t want to speak to you, it just means that I don’t have the capacity or want to continue a conversation with that topic.

This message has nothing to do with taking a break from posting content. You’ll still be getting daily updates, I’ll be responding to comments. And there’s some surprise Christmas content on it’s way. I just won’t be responding to all DMs in the inbox.

I sincerely wish you all well and I hope you make the most of whatever you can this holiday season. I know it will look a lot different but do try to keep all the traditions you can and start new ones.
