Great stuff with reading the Gon + Ging interaction. A cuddly re-union would've certainly been unnatural.

2024-09-07 20:59:31 +0000 UTCGing to Mr. Beans: "If I can get my target to move as I want, I have succeeded as a Hunter" Such a great foreshadowing to Pariston's display of true Hunter spirit during the election.

2024-09-06 05:43:41 +0000 UTCThis is purely speculative on my part - but it's likely since he's already learned nen the aggressive way perhaps he'll double back off screen and do it the same way Zushi has. Which in itself could result in a massive battle IQ jump

2024-09-06 04:41:16 +0000 UTCThere's this "hunting for your dream" thing in the show which takes various concrete forms throughout the story but also forms that are hard to explain but feel much bigger and more universal. Like what is the pursuit of pursuits? Hunter society seems in tune with whatever that thing is and are structured around its pursuit. Pariston seems to embody that as a political figure.

2024-09-06 04:41:05 +0000 UTCI don’t believe Gon ever held anything against Ging for leaving him to pursue being a hunter. I think he must have found it something to really be worth doing if he was willing to choose that over his son. And Ging said he didn’t want to see Gon because he honestly didn’t have no excuse. He did what he wanted. And of course he avoided it as much as possible. No father of the year however this definitely showed how unfamiliar and uncomfortable Ging is in this area. So idk it’s weirdly cool to see something good come out of this weird chase especially after the Chimera arc. To give credit to Cheadle I think she does have fine qualities. Some I wish I had. She could definitely benefit from Paristons words yet I’m not as confident in her running this thing as chairman. I’m team Pariston but I probably enjoyed her dialogue the most just because it’s gave insight into the game. She’s definitely smart and has a good head on her shoulders but she’s also very by the book. For some reason I found myself rooting for Pariston because he does have a sort of tenacity for this that’s unmatched. It’s that something that this Hunter association needs. He probably is the “best” thing for the Hunter association. Everything and everyone being so chaotic somehow lightened the air. You have to roll with the punches and Cheadle lacks some of that insanity or whatever it is you wanna call it. Hopefully she can take the win in stride. Definitely weird to believe but after a while you know this is just how the Zoldycks function. I’m not sure what to make of the rescinded restriction on Killua but I thought that was a very interesting sign from the family. It may not change much but there was a small shift there for a moment which was impressive for them. They definitely pinned Killua as the one to succeed. Killing for Miluki is a chore. He’ll do it if there’s something in it for him. Or without getting his hands dirty. But some of that attention for the prodigy of the family should go to him from time to time. The dude needs to get out of his room once in a while.

2024-09-06 03:12:33 +0000 UTCadditional context - he accurately doesn't have any ability concerning it. He has nen fundamentally so to speak, as it was observed enveloping him. He's just back to normal - as in he can't perceive or manipulate nen.

2024-09-06 03:04:29 +0000 UTCThe sweet irony of Ging sending Gon to Kite because he didn't want to have to meet his friends only for it to backfire as Gon ended up meeting Ging in front of almost every member of the Hunter’s association

2024-09-06 02:58:33 +0000 UTCI've specifically been waiting for your interpretation of Ging and Gon during and following this interaction, and it did not disappoint. Agreed on pretty much all counts, although seeing things that broadly is not the popular opinion on this one lol. Would also be wildly curious to see how your opinions on various things morph and change in the post anime material. Cheers

2024-09-06 02:51:48 +0000 UTCThis is not a spoiler because the anime does not bring it up at all, its only mentioned in the manga. About Gon's condition even after being healed: Gon does not have his Nen. He mentions that he cannot even see Nen, let alone use it, due to his covenant of using all his Nen at once. I wish they hadn't left this out of the anime, because without knowing it, it makes it seem like there were almost no consequences when in fact there were very real consequences.

2024-09-06 02:22:15 +0000 UTCI always forget how many amazing moments are in this episode. That last scene with Killua and Alluka/Something once again showing the absolute best of Killua. As well as one of my personal favorite scenes this arc, Pariston and Cheadle’s conversation. Seeing Pariston actually get teary from talking about Netero really adds a lot to their imagined relationship. It also connects really well with Ging and Cheadle’s conversation that also happened in that same hallway I believe.

2024-09-06 02:19:57 +0000 UTCI think it's interesting that Gon's first words to Ging were just "I'm sorry for what happened to Kite." They were clearly not determined in advance. You might think that, in Gon's years-long obsession with the quest, he would have thought about what he'd say, but I interpret that it was only ever about the quest, not what he would do once he achieved it.

2024-09-06 01:35:10 +0000 UTCWhile it is fun to see Pariston demolish Cheadle, it is also good to remember that all the zodiacs were chosen by Netero, so he must have seen something great in all of them. I think this arc shows what Netero saw in Pariston.
