JBL Xtreme 3 - frequency response measurements

I managed to do some quick outdoor measurements of the Xtreme 3, despite some slight wind. As usual measured elevated at around 1.5m from 50cm exactly on axis.

The thick line is half volume, bass reduction already starts 2 steps above that and becomes pretty obvious at maximum volume. No bass boost for low levels, and the 6khz peak I was hearing from my first impressions video is also visible well.

IMO it sounds great up to 60%, but above that it's unusable as some small portable partybox. 2 Minirigs with sub will do a much better job but are also way more expensive...

Second time writing lost it due to bad connection(stupid patron and Internet ahhh). So what i was about to say is that in my opinion the xtreme 3 on your 1st impresion video sounded similiar to the aiwa exos 3, except upper treble and dispersion they had some similiarities the peaks(that 6khz one), witch might be a good oportunity if correted, mids and even bass, just that aiwa has a boost on an upper region but when it reaches the xtreme 3 boost it still has more power, at high lvls, so i had thought you could do a comparison against it also to give it some idea to aiwa make a speaker JBL didn't succed doing, i think to such a thing aiwa really as some potencial. I give this as a sugestion since you gave them ur opinion already.

Nothing related with the Xtreme 3 on my message Oluv, but I just want to bring you all my support after the terrible events yesterday in Vienna. Here in France, we're also very hurted a lot by those crazy guys. Take care of you and your family...all the best Oluv !

I like the overall tuning, but if it at least retained a bit more bass at high levels. But a Teufel Rockster Cross does a much better job here

I certainly agree with you in that its pretty average compared to something like the helsinki. I even prefer my pair of stormbox micros in stereo for personal listening. Or my oslo for that matter allthough i wouldnt take that one to the beach;)

When compared to the Helsinki here, the Xtreme 2 lacks detail and sounds quite muddy off axis as well: https://youtu.be/RWUDaopM1sA?t=859

At least my extreme 2 doesnt have a 6khz peak. My measurement show a smooth lift in mids/presence region and some very smooth air in the high treble. It was more harsh on the previous firmware. I never upgraded after 1,6 because im afraid that might ruin it again.

I don’t think Xtreme 2 is better.

Oluv'Sone

I would never buy it. I think the extreme 2 is even better with firmware 1,6

The Frequency Response is acceptable but nothing special for the price. This seem to keep the same bass response around 55hz, just as deep as the Xtreme 2, the 6Khz boost is quite annoying you feel that it’s unatural. it is maybe slighty more powerful than the Xtreme 2 but definitely not a game changer Better get something else
