2020-12-21 19:19:46 +0000 UTCGreat pic, Oluv. I agree with your take on these. Apple did a great job. To me, the ANC and frequency response are better than my Bose 700/QC35II and Sony XM3. Build is better, too. A little heavy, but the headband is comfortable and cup weight is so close to the head that inertia is low, making them feel lighter than they should. I have only 3 issues. 1) maximum volume seems limited. they're great for normal everyday listening, but there are times when I'd like to really crank it for a few seconds and the limit precludes that. I think they're built for EU SPL limits. 2) There's no direct wire option, so I can't use my desktop amp at my desk. 3) The price is high $399 seems more like it. But I support Apple charging whatever they can get, especially at launch. And with these being sold out for the next 12 weeks, perhaps even $549 was low. But all-in-all a great first OTE headphone from Apple that will make Sony and Bose step up their game.

It’s the best ANC and transparency mode I have ever heard and the sound is very pleasant with nice air on top, lower bass is slightly elevated but they do not sound boomy like the Sonys which were just unacceptable. I listened to my own recordings and the Apple Aurpods Max render them very faithfully, I cannot hear any peak or other anomaly; they just seem to lack a bit presence around 3khz but not to such a degree that it would be serious. I am not blown away but positively surprised and everyone bashing them probably doesn’t know how a decent headphone should sound.

2020-12-21 16:43:02 +0000 UTCA friend of mine heard them once for a bit. They sound pretty nice, apparently. The ANC is among the best, if not the best, and the sound is pleasant. In a way, the signature is somewhat comparable to the Homepod (at low volumes. At high volumes the Homepod falls apart), as in that it's not necessarily the "highest" quality there is, but it's more tuned to be a pleasant experience, which is something that Apple focuses on a lot with products like this, and it works. He was pleasantly surprised by these, even though he only heard them for a few minutes. Can't wait to see your take on these!
