Being a real monster would be so much fun, don’t you think? They’re comfortable with what they are and have confidence in themselves. Monsters can’t do everything, sure, but they do a lot with what God gave them, you know? Freddy, Jason, Michael, Pazuzu, uh, the thing from “The Thing,” the alien in “Alien,” the entity in this movie—they got a little light of theirs and they’re gonna let it shine.

2023-09-07 19:57:28 +0000 UTCI liked that you added that little frosted over box in the lower right hand corner. It helped me re-sync when I lost it a couple times after I paused. Don't forget about "Terrifier". Art the clown is the most terrifying _looking_ villain in recent memory. There's one scene that's particularly hard to watch. Even though you know it's fake, it's VERY disturbing. You'll see what I mean. I got the feeling a couple of those jump scares not only scared the shit outta you, but they also pissed you off. Were you getting annoyed by them? You kinda gave that vibe. Anyway, GREAT reaction once again. See ya soon! ✌

I'm not a huge jump-scare fan (mostly because I find a lot of them unearned) but SMILE was effective and had me herky-jerky in my seat at the cinema. And I'm always curious in horror as a venue for social commentary. This flick rubbed some folks the wrong way. Your mileage may vary.
