I've been watching your YouTube videos for a while and have loved your reactions. I check my Subscriptions page, see this was uploaded so I just had to come over here for the full reaction. Love this version and it gave me a good excuse to watch it again :) Some trivia: Extras who appeared in this film were reportedly given $1 in cash, a donut, and a Dawn of the Dead T-shirt. The outdoor scene where hunters, emergency crew and soldiers are shooting at zombies was done using local volunteers. Several local hunters arrived on-scene with their own weapons, the local National Guard division showed up in full gear, and local emergency crew (police, fire and ambulance) were present, all voluntarily. Zombie actors took photographs of themselves dressed up in full zombie makeup inside a photo booth on the second floor. They then replaced the sample pictures on the front of the booth with the ghoulish ones. The scene between Roger and Peter in the trucks when they are kidding each other about their height as (Scott H. Reinger is 5'7 and Ken Foree is 6'5) was entirely improvised by the two actors. Several members of the marauding band of bikers were played by members of the local chapter of the Pagans Motorcycle Club. The elaborate motorcycles they drove were their own.

Okay, here's a Tom Savini story from "Smoke & Mirrors" the documentary about him. In Vietnam, he was put on guard duty, and his job was to watch the trip-wire all through the night. And he said it was a really tense job because you were just there to monitor the trip-wire but if the Viet Cong tripped it, you were NOT to shoot. You were alert base ONLY. NO SHOOTING. Got that? So he's on duty and the trip-wire gets triggered. And Tom Savini reacted by FIRING ALL THE BULLETS. This meant that all the guards around him also unloaded. It was ANARCHY. Like that scene in "Predator". And then... ...a duck wandered out of the forest. A duck had triggered the trip-wire. Savini was summoned to explain by his commanding officer. He admitted that he'd fired on instinct. At a duck. "Tell me that we at least killed the duck," said his CO. Savini had to admit that no, the duck had emerged from the encounter unscathed. It was at this point that he was put onto the photographic unit, taking pictures of casualties and horror movie history was changed FOREVERRRRR...

I love this movie. If I had to do a zombie apocalypse, a mall would be great to be in. I’m so glad you do the blurred version in the corner. I guess I own a longer directors cut version but was able to correct at times and get back to synced up.

Hi K@t! .. I tried to watch my first full length reaction today .. got 37 minutes in but my system could not keep up .. that's one of the reason's why I watch you and your reaction videos on YouTube. This is one of my favorite zombie films .. DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978) kinda started it all for me when it comes to zombie movies .. It has it all! .. action, gore, a world turned upside down .. it's a bloody mess and a very good horror movie .. their is another not to well known pretty good and scary, spooky film from back in the day known as CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS (1972) that one you have to watch K@t .. YouTube has it... Enjoy! I'll be seeing you there my friend .. till then .. M@x.

I love this movie. I saw it when it first came out at the theater. I met Tom years ago; he's such a nice guy, and his Practical effects and makeup skills are outstanding. Tom Savini's first feature film as a director was the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead, which had many great effects. You need to do a reaction to Planet Terror (2007); so many people have been asking for that, and I am one of them.

Okay. So I had the super super extra long extra entrails version. But I found Kat's Version (hey it's kind of like Taylor's Version!) on YouTube for freeeeeeeee.

The mall was an actually mall not a stage. The Monroeville Mall in Pittsburg is still open to this say and a major tourist spot for fans. They actually weren't allowed to close the mall during filming so they would film from closing to opening. Apparently a few times they surprised some mall walkers in the morning.
