Blue Velvet on your capes

Hi fellow Wizards and Necromancers!

Two tutorials in a single day? What?! Who does that?! Mamikon.

I have a treat for you - a tutorial about painting Blue Velvet on your miniatures.

Let’s get straight into it:

1. Start with applying Macragge Blue, layer consistency. Follow the sculpted lines on the robes/cape when adding the highlights.

2. Also add highlights in the crevasses. This might be counterintuitive but it is actually the correct thing to do as the light has to end up somewhere, so it ends up in the bottom of the crevasses.

3. Add a glaze (paint mixed in a 1:3 ratio with water) of Macragge Blue all over the surface. This will blend in the colors together nicely.

4. Add a layer of Celedor Sky mixed 1:1 with Macragge Blue.

5. Add a layer of Celedor Sky. Remember, that every next highlight has to be smaller (thinner) than the last one. This will create a smooth transition between the colors.

6. Add a layer of Celedor Sky mixed 1:1 with Adriatic Blue (from Scale 75).

7. Add a layer of Adriatic Blue.

8. Add a layer of a 1:1 mix of Adriatic Blue and Fenrisian Grey.

9. Use the color mix from the last step to add some scratches all over the surface. Don’t add too many - less is more and you can always add more if you wish.

And that’s it! I really hope you like this one - a lot of work and testing has went into the development of this tutorial.
