Ultramarine Shield: NMM gold

Hi fellow Wizards and Necromancers!

Hope you have been busy painting miniatures! 😊🧙‍♂️

Today I’d like to show you a new way to paint beautiful NMM gold!

Let’s get straight into it:

1. Basecoat with Rhinox Hide. Add 2-3 thin coats of this paint to have a good foundation for our further steps.

2. Start adding Mournfang Brown in thin layers across the surface. When painting NMM, it’s important to remember about the light placement and contrast. If the light is coming from the top, most of the time you should place the highlights on the top and bottom of the area, leaving the middle darker to create contrast.

3. Follow the last step with another layer of highlights, this time with a 2:1 mix of Averland Sunset and Mournfang Brown. As always, this highlight should be thinner (in width) than the last one, to show a smooth transition between the colors.

4. Next up, add a coat of Averland Sunset. This has to be layer consistency - so quite thick. To achieve layer consistency, mix the paint 1:1 with water.

5. Now, add a glaze with Averland Sunset, all over the surface. Just one coat.

6. Next, add a layer of Ushabti Bone mixed 1:1 with Averland Sunset. Always remember to make every highlight thinner (in width) than the last coat of paint.

7. Wash the entire area with Yriell Yellow. This will allow you to marry all of the colors together and smooth out all areas.

8. Finally, add a highlight of Ivory (from AK Interactive) or Ushabti Bone mixed 1:1 with White. This has to be placed in the middle of the last highlight. Also edge highlight the entire area with the same paint mix (almost white - beige).
