If the pregnant couple looked familiar, it's because they are the travelers that Zuko didn't steal food from in "Zuko Alone." Favorite part of this reaction is when you remark that things are going well just before the guy falls off the cliff path. had me LOLing

2018-01-08 10:52:51 +0000 UTCI think Toph’s inability to see when in water/on ice is because she doesn’t normally sense simply because of vibrations on the ground, but because she’s an earth bender, and thus extra sensitive to subtle vibrations through the earth, or simply the location of objects that are on/connected to earth/ground. None of that works on ice, because it’s not earth. Perhaps a blind water bender or blind Avatar(that would be kinda cool now that I think of it. Maybe not a whole series, but a flashback about the blind Avatar could be an interesting story...sorry, my train of thought got sidetracked) could “see” on ice, but Toph needs earth to maintain her sense of what’s around her and if & where it’s moving. Hope that helps explain whe she can and can’t see. They might have subtleties here and there with how things can or can’t Work(the loose sand could still be used to see, but the looseness caused everything to look kinda fuzzy/unclear for example), but they stay fairly consistent with their rules on how things work/what is or isn’t possible.
