So, about Rootbound... (Patreon Update)
Added 2020-04-16 01:55:56 +0000 UTCHey everybody! I just updated my Patreon pitch/adjusted my tier descriptions a bit. I was waiting until I had finished the new artwork that I want to go along with it, but I decided it was more important to get the info out before putting it off any longer. When you have a moment, please read it over and if you feel the need to adjust your pledge, please feel free to do so. It's no trouble if you decide to un-pledge, as well! I appreciate the support none-the-less <:)
Okay, now to my main point: Rootbound is so personal to me and I have a need to be heard through my characters. I truly wanted to write a comic, but let’s be real, it’s been 5 years since I officially started posting pages and I still never made it past the first chapter. I feel like I’ve been holding myself back by the standards of a comic and I’ve come to a realization that perhaps it’s better to switch up the format for this story. My plan is to treat it more like a visual development project and focus on significant character moments. Something like mini color scripts and/or narrative illustrations. This way I can finally just DRAW my characters and share their stories, even if it means letting go of all the finesse a comic would detail. And honestly, I want these characters to start to grow up with me. In my mind, they’ve been stuck as teenagers since their inception over 10 years ago and I want to flesh out their futures now that I’m older, too. Perhaps one day I’ll return to a comic format, but for now, this is something I want to explore with my story, even if its on a smaller scale. I hope you all understand and look forward to seeing the new direction I take Rootbound in. Thank you once again for the support!
