This dramatically increased my intelligence beyond baseline human standards, just as they intended,” Lauren placidly explained, her voice serious, her face blank of emotion, which was decidedly unnatural for such a normally expressive and vivacious personality. “An unintended result of that modification, though, was a disorder that used to be called ‘compulsive sexual behavior disorder’, or more commonly known as hypersexuality or nymphomania. That was quite a problem for a baseline human on Earth at the age of 6. For a Risian, it would have been entirely normal, but that wasn’t an option for me, something my Federation doctors didn’t even consider. No, due to the Federation’s prudishness and their general prejudice towards the genetically enhanced, even for children who had no say in the matter, I was institutionalized from that day forward. It was only recently that Gothic secured my release from the Institute.”
