I certainly did not like the creepy atmosphere under Communism, I strongly dislike any sort of regime, but I dislike as well tourist traps - in a special way if associated to ancient and magnificent towns like Prague. However I could give an eager chance to local pubs! :)

2019-09-30 12:51:26 +0000 UTC1980 was still Communism so I can see how the atmosphere would have been strange. It has changed so much now that the center is mainly a facade for tourists. It is beautifully repaired but there are so many tourist traps. You can always walk a few hundred metres in either direction to find a great local pub with cheap and tasty beer :)

2019-09-30 11:09:41 +0000 UTCWell... at present I wouldn't certainly be happy with just a couple of steins and I couldn't obviously afford the cost (neither would like to throw away my little money in such a stupid way), but the Oktoberfest I attended was a very long time ago, furthermore I was a guest, so I can't remember how much beer I had and how much was paied for it... I can only hope I didn't reduce to poverty my hosts O_O P.s.: I spent a week in Prague in 1980; I was allowed to go alone (not in a group) as an anthro student with a pass to meet the director of a museum, but it costed me more than one month of visits to the Czech embassy in my town. Believe me, it was worth it. It was marvellous, though the atmosphere was not always so "easy".

2019-09-29 22:11:47 +0000 UTCI've never been myself even though as a kid I lived in Bavaria for a year. Every Sunday the Bavarians would yodel. I spend a lot of time in Czech Republic now and it's almost like Oktoberfest is a daily thing there :) haha.....The beer in CZ is only about 1.5 euros. I'd like to see Oktoberfest but I cannot imagine paying 13 euros per stein. I guess you only need a couple though :)
