I'm not interested in watching something if I'm pretty sure everyone's going to be dead at the end of the movie. I'm more of a Roddy McDowell '70's horror kinda gal. I like scary, but not too scary. That being said, my favorite show this year was Yellowjackets. I would rate its level of scariness somewhere between Stranger Things and this show. I wish I could find someone reacting to it because I want to talk about it! I did recognize a few of the cast members. Michiel Huisman was on GOT. Timothy Hutton and Carla Gugino have been working since the '80s, so they have been in all sorts of stuff. I didn't notice until I checked imdb that McKenna Grace is playing young Theo. She works so much! She plays the "young character X" version of older characters so often that there are memes about it. Anyway, if you can hang on, I will watch this one with you. I haven't watched it either. I think Shirley has a gift. She saw the guy on the couch who wasn't really there; she saw the zombie cat; she saw her mom; her dreams seem real. The light that flashed was the porch light, which was the mother's signal to come home.

2022-10-31 14:07:25 +0000 UTCmichael, gidle released their new ep called I love its only 6 songs, it's so good, i think its worth checking out. the lyricism, the concepts, it's just amazing. the title track Nxde has an mv and has a lot of references to Marilyn Monroe, and is a social critique of how people view nudity when it comes to women, but also, they embrace their nudity. it's just magnificent. and also, they write and produce their songs, specifically soyeon the rapper, she writes every song.

I feel for you as you experience the scary, but the whole plot is so rich with character development and the depth is so wonderful. It's pretty unparalleled in terms casting and directing. Truly masterful. Also, I was so excited for you to realize where you'd seen the "now" Steven actor before, and then it didn't click for you and made me giggle cuz I was so hyped for the moment it panned to his face and then...nothing 😂😂 its not important, and if you don't like associating the actors with their other roles cuz it can be distracting, no worries. But I promise you've seen him.

Not going to lie, after how freaked out you got during Stranger Things, I wasn't sure if you would have a good time watching this show because it's a lot scarier. BUT THEN you mentioned that you watched and really enjoyed Shudder Island, and, imo, Hill House and Shudder Island have very similar fear levels, so maybe you'll be okay. I will say though, that if you get a few eps in and you're too scared and not having a good time, I wouldn't blame you for switching gears to something else. I have such complicated feelings about Steve. Shirley's Oldest Daughter Syndrome is so relatable to me. I think the way they weave all the storylines together is so masterful, and I love the way they use the camera in this show; the cinematography, and what gets focus, and details in the background etc.

I don't think I know how to say this in English, it's not a spoiler, it's just a nice touch, when I watched it for the second time I tried to find them all, it's really cool

She’s now done amazing roles for the tv show You and also starred as the protagonist in Haunting of Bly Manor (the Hauntings are an anthology series, both from Mike Flanagan, completely different stories with some casting crossover) + Kid Luke is one of Wanda’s children from the WandaVision tv show!

I was still scared with you when the jumps happen even though I’ve seen it enough times now to know all of them 🥲 But I am big big fan of well done shows and movies, even if they’re scary if done well, as you said you are. I 100% think Hill House is worth it. Alongside GoT, Hill House is a top 3 show of my life and I’ll always recommend it. As previous comments mentioned, the first five episodes follow each sibling from oldest to youngest, and then episode 6 is a masterpiece coming together. + I feel like it’d be cruel not to tell you (as a fellow chicken-shit viewer): episode 5 is the scariest, in my opinion. Bat at the ready for that one! I’d definitely recommend following up with Midnight Mass—another Mike Flanagan piece that’s a great commentary on christianity (specifically catholicism) and religious trauma.

So what you were saying about how you wonder if the whole show will be a back and forth between past and present, yes it will be but it's always really easy to follow like you said. The first 5 episodes follow each of the siblings from oldest to youngest so that'll probably help you connect the kid actor to the adult actor as you keep watching those "intro" eps because each episode will follow one more than the others.

I love Mike Flanagan as a director so much he is so good and I absolutely love Hill house... Also when Nell is dancing in the house at the end of episode 1 they show a mirror which is from one of the movies Mike Flanagan directed called Oculus and was also the frame of the bed in Gerards Game... Just useless interesting info lol.... 😂...All of the acting and storytelling in this series is sooo good...

Theo's ep is next, bc the first few go in order of oldest to youngest for the kids, so you'll learn more about her then and also see her as a kid. Having watched this i can tell there's going to be a few scares that will fuck you up lol, but i promise it's so SO worth it. As someone who is also the oldest of a group of siblings, I'll tell you right now you'll love this show. Also, it's been a few years since i last watched it and i like and feel for Steve and Shirley way more than i ever did.
