2025-06-13 23:14:12 +0000 UTCWhat a way to bounce back from the literal fever dream of the last episode. The bait and switch with Peyton and your reaction is so real. I remember being very upset when the last scene of the previous episode aired because I felt like of course they would do something terrible to Peyton. That seems to be the only way they know to write for her. The pregnancy reveal and all the cute moments that followed are such a joy after feeling that way. Nathan’s back on his NBA journey which we love to see. And omg yes James Lafferty is still a gorgeous man and in amazing shape. He had all of us flustered with that ad he did for whatever that clothing brand was. About the Millie and Mouth storyline. First of all, specifically the Millie/Owen scene in the bar. I’ve always hated the lines they have about not drinking and not having sex. It’s so cringey and like the definition of telling instead of showing. Like we know he’s an addict and an alcoholic. He even said it earlier in the episode. We also know she’s a virgin. They could have just cut those line and shown him Ike staring at the bottle and then pouring the drink and after he drinks it he sees her. Then cut to them making out in a room or show them walking into an apartment or something. And I’m very glad you brought up the virginity thing, because I very much agree about the gross way it seemed to be framed when mouth found out she’s a virgin. He says something like “how did I find such a perfect girl” or “how did I get so lucky”. And on its own whatever he said would be fine but it happening right after she tells him she’s a virgin makes it feel like he’s happy about THAT. And when she confesses, she doesn’t say I had sex with someone. She just says I had sex which obviously is an omission of cheating. And I know that’s very pedantic but because of the previous way it was framed, it’s like she’s confessing that she’s no longer “pure” for him. Virginity culture is so misogynistic and stupid. Like everyone should make that decision for themselves based on their own feelings and it shouldn’t matter to anyone else. And finally we have Brooke and the culmination of her storyline so far this season. I love the way the scene plays out with Sam giving her the sketches because it would be such a hard thing to deal with after all the trauma that’s tied to that night. And of course it would take time to wrap your mind around this huge bombshell. We also have Julian coming in actually being a decent guy for the first time that we’ve seen by helping her look for Sam without telling her. And I always felt like because he had been trying to convince her to do the movie, he didn’t offer his help because he didn’t want her to feel like he was doing this to try and get on her good side to make her feel like she owed him anything. Brooke taking charge once she realizes who this man is and using everything she’s been doing to make herself feel safe again is amazing. And I’m glad that Julian wasn’t just the knight in shining armor who came in to rescue her, but he was there to comfort her in the end when Brooke learns what we already know. This isn’t just some abusive price of trash he’s also a murderer. And I think I’ve said this before, but I love horror and thrillers and all that, but I don’t need psychos and murderers in this show. (I’m not counting Dan in this btw because I feel like his story is very different than what we get with someone like this guy or Nanny Carrie or Psycho Derek). Anyway the violence and horror stuff is not why I love this show. It’s fine and they’re not bad at it. Like they can make a good thrilling episode that gets you on the edge of your seat and you cheer when the characters you love overcome that. It’s just not necessary in my opinion. I do feel like this one was a bit more grounded than the previous ones. Because by the end of the Nanny Carrie and Psycho Derek stories they turned into like full on psychotic horror movie villains. This guy was just an abusive creep. And in the end we get Sam calling Brooke mom to pull her back from the edge. Even though I really don’t think Brooke would have actually killed him unless it was literally her life or his. Overall these were really good episodes.

Because you kinda missed the song Brooke was dancing to when Julian walked in, and I just have to know. 😂 If not, it needs to be added to the movie poll. You seriously can't go through life without seeing it. Now that's out of the way. Loved these episodes and your reaction. I couldn't help laughing at you trying to figure out what's wrong with Peyton, only because I knew how happy you were going to be to find out you're wrong. Ahh, Brooke and Sam. Love them. Glad the whole Jack's psycho brother didn’t last as long as previous psychos on the show (even though it kinda did without us fully knowing). By the way, the director dude is James Van Der Beek. He was in Dawson's Creek. I've never watched it, but it was the teen drama before OTH with Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson. He's also been in other things. I know him from Criminal Minds. I think that's all I got for my comment right now. I can't wait for the next upload! 😍
