I can certainly respect your thoughts and love for Man if Steel, and the rest of the movies within this newer DC Universe. Of course you have every right to love what you love. And that's great! For me... I do like Wonder Woman and am looking forward to Wonder Woman 2. However, I really don't like any of the rest and in my opinion... Ben Afleck is the worse of all the actors to ever play Batman in all the movies. Followed very closely by George Clooney from Batman and Robin. The rest of the actors... Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, and Val Kilmer were all really good in the role. I hope you will continue to enjoy all the movies to come. :)

I liked the first two Tim Burton Batman movies, but did not like the Joel Schumacher ones at all. They were too goofy. Hated the one-liners and they completely messed up the character of Bane and made him, virtually, nothing. The neon aesthetic bothered me also. They looked like amusement parks. Like it was all a big elaborate puppet show for kids or something. I forgot most of them as soon as they were over. I know a few people that do like them, but Batman is so popular that different people can have different views of what is and isn't REALLY Batman to them. So, I don't begrudge people from seeing things differently.
I wasn't a huge fan of "Justice League" it felt rushed and all of the characters should have been established before they meet (like in the MCU), but I did like getting introduced to Arthur Curry/Aquaman (or as they called him "The Aquaman." I LOVE when they refer to their names as titles, The Batman, The Superman, etc.) and I really like the introduction to The Flash. A different type of Barry Allen. Younger and more awkward, but I did like it and was/am eager to see him coming into his own.

I REALLY like Man of Steel. I also really liked Wonder Woman. Aquaman was pretty fun and beautiful to look at. I was a bit surprised, at the time, that more people didn't really like Man of Steel. It really moved me in a lot of parts and I really liked the more sci-fi take on the Superman story which is sort of in keeping with what Christopher Nolan laid out in his Dark Knight trilogy. He didn't want the "fantastical" elements of the comics and wanted to keep them as down to earth as possible which is why there's no mention of Lazarus Pits with Ra's and is just hinted that it's just a title handed down throughout the centuries. I liked Man of Steel, but I thought of it more as an Elseworlds story in that it's a different Earth than the main DC Universe Earth-1. I didn't like Batman v. Superman, overall, when I saw it in the theater because I feel like they didn't establish this Batman first (although there are hints that his is supposed to be Nolan's Batman, just years later) and why he's so different and hard. They hint at a few things, but we didn't SEE it so it just feels...wrong, although I did really like Ben Affleck as both Bruce Wayne and Batman. He was just given short shrift on characterization, which is not Zack Snyder's strong-suit and is not Affleck's fault. We should've gotten a Ben Affleck Batman movie, to establish him, before he and Superman meet. When I saw the Director's Cut months later, and I wasn't excited to rewatch it in a LONGER version, I found I liked the Director's Cut MUCH better. It flowed better story-wise and felt like it made more sense. But, I still over all, felt that Superman's characterization in it was also lacking and that he didn't grow any closer to the Superman that we all know. You understand him better in Man of Steel and how he starts, you'd figure he'd be more self-assured and confident (fully realized beacon of hope) by the time we see him in BvS.
I was enjoying Suicide Squad for the first 2/3-3/4 of it and didn't care for the ending/climax at all, nor the over all story/villain. That movie really felt like something was missing.
SHAZAM! was fun and much lighter (like the comics). I always liked that character and those comics.

I've tried getting through Suicide Squad. I turned it off after the first half hour because for me, I thought it was just terrible. And I really enjoy Will Smith in most of his movies. I'm sorry.

Even though most of the recent DC movies haven't been great I'm gonna sponsor Suicide Squad for nest month.
Mostly for Harley :P

Thank you so much for another fantastic movie reaction for another phenomenal movie!! :) I absolutely love this entire trilogy, and The Dark Knight Rises is no exception. It's exceptional! Like you... I would have absolutely loved to see more movies to continue on with the overall storylines and these characters, played incredibly by these movies' actors... Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.
And now... this third movie in the trilogy brings in some phenomenal new characters, as well as a few new characters that to me aren't as great, but still enjoyable. We meet Officer John Blake "Robin" played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Selina Kyle "Catwoman" played by Anne Hathaway, and Marion Cotillard played by Miranda Tate "Talia".
We also come to meet Bane played by Tom Hardy, who I've seen play great characters in other movies, and while Bane is entertaining in this movie and Tom Hardy plays him pretty well for the most part, I have to admit that he is my least favorite of the new characters brought in for this movie and is my least favorite villain. I just felt that he was nothing more than any other bullish brute with a strange voice that I find a bit annoying at times. However, Bane is a popular and well known Batman villain from the comics, and Tom Hardy plays him well. I love that his character was Talia's protector all along, after we were led to belong through most of the movie that Bane was the son of Ra's Al Ghul, played by Liam Neeson both in this movie and back in Batman Begins.
And I should have seen that the child we were led to believe was Bane, was really a girl who turned out to be Ra's Al Ghul's daughter, Talia... who is really Miranda Tate. I didn't see this twist coming and I'm happy that I didn't. :) I really like Marion Cotillard as Miranda. She's stands strong to Bruce, and especially to Batman once she reveals herself as Ra's Al Ghul's daughter. A brilliant twist.
As for Officer Tom Blake... I love his character and I love, love, love Joseph Gordon-Levitt's portrayal of him, and that he turns out to be this Trilogy's, Robin. Again... when it was said that his name was really Robin in the end, I didn't see this reveal coming either. I should have, because after watching this movie several times since I first saw it in the theaters, I've noticed a number of subtle and not so subtle hints throughout the movie that I completely didn't catch onto the first time. I love Officer Blake, and I love his partnership with Gordon throughout the movie too. And most of all... I absolutely love how it is that Blake knew immediately that Bruce Wayne was Batman all along simply from a single look on Bruce's face when he was just a boy, and that Blake still fully believes in Batman, just like Gordon does.
And this brings me to Selina Kyle, otherwise widely known as Catwoman... I too love Anne Hathaway and I love her throughout this movie just like you do. In fact... this movie has made me come to love her even more than I already have loved her in a number of other movies too, just as it's done for you as well like you said in your own thoughts. This trilogy's version of Catwoman is smart, gorgeous, spunky, and she's just amazing. I love her fighting style and quick wit. I also really love Selina Kyle's and Bruce Wayne's chemistry with one another, and the idea of them actually being together in a romantic relationship, like was hinted to in the very end of this movie. Selina and Bruce, while Batman and Catwoman are prefect for one another throughout this movie. In any Batman movie, TV series, or comic with Batman and Catwoman, there's always some sort of romance between their characters, but this movie is the first time that I've actually really loved it and believed it because of these actors' chemistry with one another. Fabulous! :)
Like I said above... I would love to have seen another few movies within this movie series too. However, one of the themes throughout this trilogy is Bruce fighting for a day when the world and Gotham will no longer need Batman to protect them, longing for a life beyond the darkness he's wrestled with for so long. And the Dark Knight Rises finally brings Bruce to this point at last. He sees there are good men and women in the world who will stand against those that are evil, and at last... the Dark Knight rises just as the title of this movie suggests, and it's beautiful and powerful. After such a tragic and dark ending in The Dark Knight when Batman must take the fall for Harvey Dent's crimes for the people, seeing Bruce and Batman rise up as a hero by this movie's end is phenomenal, powerful, and beautiful. I absolutely love this movie for this!! :)
Christian Bale once again was phenomenal as Bruce Wayne/Batman, as are Jim Gordon and Sir Michael Caine as Alfred. I love these three characters in these three movies so much. And I love each of these actors who play them.
If I have any complaints at all... the only one I can think of is that Alfred wasn't in this movie nearly as much as he was in the other two, since he said goodbye to Bruce after Bruce fired him for burning Rachel's letter and keeping the truth about her choosing Harvey over him a secret all these years. I also hated that Bruce actually fired Alfred, after everything he's done for him. But these issues are minor. Overall... a phenomenal, incredible movie.
Oh... and I also love seeing Cillian Murphy brought back once again as Doctor Jonathan Crane, also known throughout the Batman Universe as the Scarecrow. Cillian Murphy is a brilliant actor whom I love in a number of movies, and I love his role as Doctor Crane as well. His role in this movie was minor in comparison to his role in Batman Begins, but definitely larger than it was in The Dark Knight. And I just really appreciated seeing him again.
Thank you so much for this reaction, Juli! I really loved watching all three movies within this phenomenal movie trilogy with you. I'm sad that it's over, but I look forward to many more movies reactions from you to come. And perhaps, if you and or anyone else would be interested, I might go ahead and sponsor the Batman movies I spoke of in my comment above. Please let me know if you would be interested in them. That goes for anyone else who might read and like this comment too. Let me know if you all would be interested in watching these four Batman movies from many years ago. :) Thank you!! Until your next reactions, Juli...

This movie is phenomenal, and I will give you my thoughts on it shortly. But first... I just want to let you know that the next Batman movies with Ben Afleck within the DC Universe have anything to do with this Dark Knight Trilogy. They have nothing to do with these movies whatsoever. And I will tell you right now... I would not recommend these next movies... Man of Steel, Batman Vs Superman, Justice League, or Aquaman, etc... While Wonder Woman's stand alone movie was not bad and entertaining, the rest are absolutely horrible and Ben Afleck as Batman can't hold a candle to Christian Bale's portrayal of him. Christian Bale is Batman all the way and is the best actor to play this role, especially in these movies. He's incredible. So please... don't waste your time on any of the next Batman/Superman/Aquaman/Justice League movies. I was so disappointed that I wasted my time on them all. Wonder Woman is the only decent film within that franchise.
If you have any interest in watching any more Batman movies... I would actually recommend the original Batman movies from many years ago... Batman and Batman Returns starring Michael Keaton as Batman, Batman Forever starring Val Kilmer as Batman, and Batman and Robin starring George Clooney as Batman and Chris O'Donnell as Robin. Batman is played by three different actors in these four movies, but they are another film franchise that follow overarching storylines. These movies are cheesy, even really cheesy at times and nothing like this phenomenal Dark Knight Trilogy, but they are fun and exciting. I definitely recommend them. :) Stay tuned for my thoughts on The Dark Knight Rises! :)
