This was the beginnig where i started to kinda beeing eh about ricky and nini tbh. theyre realitionship got downhill from here. Im sa that miss jenn and rickys dad stopped seeing eachother for ricky. I get it, but i think they deserve to be together. I love the rose song. (olivia actually wrote this song, and so fast) she is talented. I love the music on this show, but something about nini/olivias songs/voice just always gets to me the most.

The flashback scene will always get me. I can't wait for the day people reflect on this show and truly appreciate the way Sofia Wylie and Joshua Bassett brought Ricky & Gina to life individually as well as a romantic pairing; two tremendous young talents. They have been telling a story masterfully since their first interaction on screen and it's been a great pleasure to watch unfold. This story ranks amongst some of the greatest ships/love stories/slowburns in media history and their performance should be credited in large.

I think Ricky was very confused by the sudden leaving of Gina and wanted to retreat to the safety of nini and in order to do that managed to convince himself that what Gina was saying was a declaration of friendship, the little comments he makes this season about chocolates and dating being him testing those waters

Always found it interesting how most assume that bc of this flashback ricky must be aware Gina has romantic feelings for him when in her confession she just mentions not quitting on them which could easily mean their friendship too

do you know what the big discourse about ricky knowing that gina confessed to him was? that he just pretend it didn’t happen and didn’t care about her feelings when that literally never happened and im still confused by that argument to this day 😭😭 both of them pretended that it didn’t happen and were awkward with each other until after valentine’s day when what broke the ice was the chocolate joke. and now they’re back to not talking because they have that unspoken tension between them that they aren’t talking about. like first of all when she confessed like gina said the plane was going down, and they thought they were never going to see each other again, so she just did it. ricky also thought she was never going to see him again, and he was never gonna see her again, and he just got back together with nini so he did the only he could do which is listen to her. give her a hug, and that was in a way their “closure” because they thought they were never going to see each other again. he told her to say it which to me means he wanted to hear her confess to him. he wanted to hear that whatever was between them was real, even if he got back together with nini. so that was their closure in a way but obviously it’s NOT their closure because gina ended up staying and to me you can really see the rickys conflicted even if they don’t say it verbally. rina is one of those ships in my opinion, that is in between the lines. they have never talked about their feelings with each other, and the closest was gina saying she wouldn’t give up on them and ricky bringing up how he can’t forget anything the day after the cheek kiss. and when it comes to season 2 obviously, ricky is going to be loyal in his relationship with nini and any feelings he may have for gina will be buried deep. but at the same time you can see that confliction in his face and moments where his feelings maybe start to rise up, but he pushes that down real quick and it’s easy for him, because neither of them are talking about it and gina is pretending that everything is fine so he’s going to assume everything is fine as well. like with ricky asking her advice about nini people went after him in season two episode five for asking that bc she confessed to him that night and he knows. but also, she gave advice unprompted twice so of course he’s going to think it was fine and you could tell that he realize he fucked up (and i’m not saying he was exactly right for asking either way. It was a bit insensitive sure but he was in no way doing it to hurt her or be insensitive purposefully towards her feelings) which is why he’s trying to be her friend a lot in this episode. at least that’s how i see it and of course it’s a biased lens because i ship rina. other people may not agree. and now she’s not even talking to him so he can bury his feelings even more and not think about them. i don’t understand why they waited so long to reveal it too. they easily could’ve done it earlier and in my opinion should’ve done it earlier. k guess they filmed the scene in season one and didn’t include it at the end because they didn’t know if they were going to be picked up for season two but it should’ve at least been in the first three episodes but i digress because it was a beautiful scene. i just agree that they should’ve done it earlier and is one of the things in this season that doesn’t make much sense to me amongst… other things that happen also, it’s funny that gina said he’s so happy now when he’s literally miserable and they showed it in the next scene 😭😭

Yeah I feel nothing for Ricky and Gina. The only couple in the show I actually feel something for is Seb and Carlos. That doesn't mean I hate Gina and Ricky, I just feel nothing. I had the same problem with Delena in TVD. I didn't hate them, and I was fine with them together. But personally I just didn't see a spark at all. Just meh. What I do love in this episode is Ashlyn's solo! Julia Lester is an incredible talent!

lmfao ricky looking at gina during the friend part. once again, wondering what the hell is going on in that head of his. i always assumed he wanted to try to i guess make up for not realizing he hurt her feelings last episode but it’s understandable that she doesn’t wanna talk to him. she can’t be friends with him so she’s iced him out and i understand it even if i don’t want it to happen. it shouldn’t be funny but i laugh every time i see that text from ricky about the pizza toppings. like i get it it’s part of his fear of change, but ricky come on 😭😭 ashlyn’s tribute to gina was so beautiful. and sofia is an amazing actress. she’s had two crying scenes this episode and she broke my heart in both. they’re really just kicking her while she’s down this season like let’s see her happy even if it is with ej. i can handle it as long as she’s smiling…… i guess. the rose song is beautiful and so is nini’s voice. the amount of vindication i felt when nini sang the rose song was crazy. those lyrics explain exactly why ricky and nini’s relationship just doesn’t work anymore in my opinion. like she was really saying that he loves her for the wrong reasons, and she just represents something to him and said she feels trapped in the relationship, which i can understand why especially after this episode. i think her break up with ricky in season one really made her find herself in a way and when she got back with ricky she’s a different person now, which is someone in my opinion ricky is not compatible with (and maybe never was). she was mentally checked out of that relationship a long time ago imo and she just didn’t realize it but maybe is starting to now. i think it’s completely understandable for ricky to not want his teacher and his dad dating but of course his real problem with it is the fact that it’s another change like you said. i actually like my miss jen and mike together now more than I did when I first watched. but in general, i don’t really care about the adult storylines so it’s whatever. “independently i like the characters” RIGHT they’re literally only irritating, and sometimes intolerable in my opinion in this season, at least when they’re together, and their relationship is the focus. and i say that as someone who his favorite character is ricky along with gina. like I will always defend ricky, but my god, did he make it hard in season two a lot of the time. and it was always because of his relationship with nini 😭😭 i’m not the biggest kourt and howie shipper but i love kourtney. another one of my favorite characters who is not afraid to go for what she wants and who she wants and inspired nini to do the same. lmfao i never got gay vibes from her but i do get them from nini.

Of course the hug scene is ♥♥ But I just want to say that The Rose Song blew my mind when I first heard it. The lyrics are just SO powerful. Like "I won't be confined to your point of view"... I juste get goosebumps everytime! Such a good episode.
