🌕🐺🌕
What started as a simple "Werewolf Wednesday" warmup really ended up as something I'm proud of. Every so often a piece really just gets a groove going and this is exactly what happened with this picture.
Werewolves are a favorite of mine, especially to draw so I'm not too surprised that I really got into this. With this particular werewolf, I wanted to highlight some features to make them look less like an anthro wolf. I referenced ape and baboon teeth/mouths as well as muzzle shape to get the look for this. I basically tried to combine ape+wolf a bit more to get that divergence from strictly wolfy features. I typically favor more wolfy werewolves, but this was a really fun divergence from my normal!
I'd also like to shout out my good pal Floof (Twitter @Onebigfloof) for helping me with the pose on this. When it was just a warmup I kinda phoned in the pose and it left me feeling really out of sorts with the image at the end. He helped me adjust the pose to a better version that greatly helped the composition!
Also, sleeping on the idea a bit (literally) and looking at it with fresh eyes the second day really helped this image come to a good place that I feel really proud of. NEVER be afraid to just bench an image and look at it again after you've rested. It can greatly improve the work.
(Those of you in the Discord can compare between day 1 and day 2 on this! Check it out!)
Feel free to download this to use as wallpaper on your phones or devices or to print for personal use only (like to hang up in your home!)
I will be likely looking to get prints made of this when I can start doing fun merch stuff, though, so I hope I can offer that in the near future. <3
Thank you all for hanging out with me in stream while I worked on this, and thank you to ALL of you for being here. Your support helps make artwork like this possible.
