Update on all things BirdTricks!!

So many new things in the works!!

Update on all things BirdTricks!!

Comments

I'm very excited about the T-stand. My quakers is almost through the process of getting his cut(not from me) feathers back in and I want to start flight training. Also maybe a spotlight on Quakers? I'd love to see that. Also I love the idea of new toy boxes. I would definitely order one. I'd love to see you guys near me. We also have a rescue in my area that could use some help on getting GOOD Parrot homes. I'm a little late on answering to the video been a crazy month for me.

Heather Bailey

I don't know what happened to my comment, but then again I was on mobile when I wrote it and connection can be spotty here lol. Anyways, I am so stoked about the T-stands!!! I was just thinking to myself that my parents will probably ask me what I wanted as a Christmas gift and I though that would be perfect :) Also I am excited about the new toys coming, Rocko would love to test some of them :D

Heather Fromme

haha as long as I can use your new baby Kaitlyn lol

BirdTricks

Hahaha...

BirdTricks

This is a great idea

BirdTricks

I know right!

I heard from Denyce today that he is doing well and they are seeking out a new vet to get updated labs for comparison results.

BirdTricks

I will definitely look into borrowing Theo for this!

May we please have a Goffin cockatoo spotlight? Patty has one, right? :) Cheeky is sad that the "coolest small cockatoo to own" is often the galah or rose breasted cockatoo. She wants her time in the sun, Goffins are cute too, if you NEED a small cockatoo. Also, speaking of cockatoos: could you explain the difference/ do a species spotlight on the sulfure crested vs trition etc. all the yellow crested white 'toos? Even as a bird person, I mix them all up because they look so very similar.

Catrin Griffiths

Wish we could get a more in depth Sunny update … I got really attached to his story.

Ali Stergas

Looking forward to seeing the Ekkie vids. What timing to have a female and male ekkie at once!

Rosanna Lam

I second the green cheek conure, although I know you don't have one. 😀

Carol Ewing

I agree with making sure to do a Green Cheek Conure as a spotlight bird as they are such a common bird to get at pet stores now that I think it would reach a lot of people. If you want to barrow a moody GCC for it I have one for you lol

OMG this was awesome. SO EXCITED for the T-Stands, I actually found a local welder here in San Francisco and sent them your blog post.. tell me why they quoted me $500!!! Like are you forreal? Anyway, SO pumped for those AND for the project birds + species spotlight videos! There have been a ton of creators doing those on YT but it's very clear they borrow the bird from the bird shop but obviously haven't LIVED with the bird to know them well.. so for me that content doesn't make any sense because it's very surface level. Hearing from you all your experience of training and owning condensed into a spotlight would be phenomenal and would help us as we choose which bird makes sense for our lifestyle.

Missy Sanchez Lee

Really looking forward to the eclectus videos 🤗

I forgot to note my excitement about the BT toy boxes! My bird loves the BT toys so much!

May we please have a Camelot Macaw species spotlight? I know you guys have chatted about Comet and Tusa… however it would be fun to get really in depth with hybrids… especially since they are becoming so incredibly popular. Also, I would kill someone for one of those T stands! I actually sent Dave pictures of Enzo attempting to destroy the tri pod stand I got him online a few weeks ago. It’s not terrible, but it’s also not the best… I would much rather have a metal one.

Maggie Mitten

Well.....if you need a Military Macaw for spotlight lmk lol

It's funny that I was JUST searching for a suitable t-stand for flight training yesterday. There is nothing out there that is as perfect as the stands you have. I need this so much! I also really need the indoor flight training course. My bird has regrown most of his clipped feathers (clipped by the breeder). He is only missing a couple on each side. He can fly, but he doesn't trust his ability. He will nervously fly 3 or 4 feet to me, but he isn't connecting flight as transportation yet. I feel so bad for him because I remember him being so determined to do crazy stunts when he first came home. He wasted his fledging bravery on climbing, flipping, and dangling from his beak. He seems surprised every time he flies and successfully lands on my hand, even though he always makes it. I've watched and rewatched the Tuesday flight training series you did for Patrons and other flight videos you've done with project birds. The advice has helped a lot, but something more in depth would be even better. I think my little one will figure it out pretty soon, but I want this for every birdie and their human that is going through the same thing. I don't have an eclectus but there is no doubt a big need for something on them. It's great that you got a male and a female. I agree with Connie that green cheek conures would be a good species. Cockatiels would also be great. Of course I'd love to see a pionus!

Holden Kendrick

I think it would be a great addition assuming you have clients that would be willing to do this are mini interviews with a couple of clients who have trained their birds to fly indoors to talk about their mistakes or where they struggled in training and how they worked through those things with their birds. Those short interviews could then be interspersed throughout the course.

Beckie Child

Can’t wait for tstands! I asked a welder near me to make yours and he said $425. I have tripod stands but I’m knocking them over and the birds poop on the sides of it and chew on the vet wrap.

Li

This Is very exciting. Indoor flight training is something that I requested from you a while ago. I would love love love to see you do an intense workshop for say a week. And you could have people come to you. You could do the full training and have a graduation at the end. I would definitely invest in traveling to you for something like that, since you mentioned it would be too hard on you and your family for you to fly to every client. We could come to you! One thing in particular that would be beneficial for me is training in descending. I have a two story house but I’m not sure how to get my birds to learn the art of descending and not just take it as a free-for-all when they fly down to the lower level. In addition, both of my birds have gotten out of the house; I have been able to find both of them after hours and hours and hours of looking, but the big problem in getting them back is that they didn’t know how to properly descend. I know birds getting out is not a subject people like and nobody wants it to happen, but as Dave has said, it’s when not if it will happen. Another idea that came to mind is how much is adequate exercise for a indoor bird. Regarding highlights on certain breeds, green cheek conyers are so common that focusing on them would touch a lot of people at the same time. Conyers seem to have many commonalities with other breeds of parrots, such as being nippy and annoying yet also cuddly. Finally, I would ask for you to do an Indian ring neck specie specialty. I know you said you didn’t hit it off, but the breed is so awesome. It would be great to find out how to bridge the gap between their breed and humans, since it seems they are very much anti-touching.

Connie Muttart

So I don’t know about everyone else but I can honestly say an indoor flight course is something I would definitely pre-order right now if production costs need support. I don’t have a bird yet but I would like to see different ideas for descending flight training in smaller areas. The bird room I’m creating will be a converted bedroom that’s smaller with a low ceiling & I’ll be using that for beginning flight training. My house does have a single, very large living room with a high ceiling that I’m planning to use for flight training AFTER my bird starts showing a decent amount of flight control. Descending is something I want him to show me he is getting comfortable with before purposely allowing him to fly in the larger room.

So excited for flight training course!!!
