Awesome job Kim! For gout it's uric acid crystals build up around joints. Happens with human animals also😁. I'm a nurse and have had many patients who suffer from gout and it is severely painful and even crippling. It's from the digesting of protien and the liver trying to complete the process and developing these uric crystals. It's really hard to manage their pain level. I can only imagine a bird trying to get around their cage with this pain. Another problem is, it truly is not cured. There can be relapses of it. Diet, pain, and extra fluid management is what our care plans for gout looked like. Extra water in their diet to flush out those crystals. Good luck! My prayers are with you all, esp Zip and Zoom!

I needed Kim's help with accountability and sticking to a plan when I FINALLY dedicated myself to switching my bird's diet to the BirdTricks plan, and her beautiful feathers and energy are reflecting all the great nutrition she gets daily. I hope the vet visit went as well as could be expected today; the note on having someone other than Kim towel Zip and Zoom at this point in the game is such good advice. Thank you for sharing the update!
