Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Intros ('87, '03, '12, & Rise) Reaction

2024-05-09 02:04:53 +0000 UTCThat's them. Super long story, short version, Season 4 pushed the envelope on the dark themes, one episode in particular pissed off a lot of parents. So Fox shortened Season 5 to 12 episodes and commissioned the creators to make a sequel called Fast Forward, which was more lighthearted and emphasized the sci-fi element of TMNT a lot more. The only problem is that for some reason, they chose to start airing the sequel a full year before they aired the final season of the original series. Which confused a lot of fans and led to poor ratings. Which is a shame, because FF was pretty good in my book and the plans for season two sound kind of kickass. Back to the Sewers was an attempt to keep the series going and win back some of the old fans. And it might've worked, had it not aired on a network that never ran any of the other seasons. Which is also a shame, because BttS wasn't bad for what it was, and I could tell they had bigger plans for it down the road.

What people call Seasons 6 and 7 were actually attempts at standalone sequels, sort of like what RiD is to Prime, only not as successful, that's why they have a different art style and tone. Season 5 was meant to be the end of the main 2003 series.

2024-05-08 22:48:36 +0000 UTCI think I might have read some of the comics back in the day because I remember TMNT being darker than that '87 was. I definitely would like a nice blend of darker tones and comedy. 2003 might have to be the first one I check out.

2024-05-08 22:09:19 +0000 UTC2003 and Rise are definitely my favorites. 2003 is the first TMNT cartoon I ever saw, so it has a special place in my heart. It's definitely the darkest of the 4 series, it does a good job of balancing the dark tones of the original comics with the lighthearted comedy of the 80s cartoon. And it has my favorite version of the Shredder ever. Rise was great because it took a lot of chances and tried to set itself apart from everything that came before it. Which is why a lot of people, including myself, didn't watch it when it first came out and why the series is so short. But it's creative, it's unique and it's just plain funny as hell. If you pick either of those, I'll be satisfied.
