Marvelous Gamer - Chapter 6

AN: Hey guys.

This chapter was supposed to have smut in it, but it got a little too long so I cut it out. The next chapter will start with a little smut scene.

In this chapter we visit a certain school for 'gifted students'.

Hope you guys enjoy this one.

Chapter 6

"Are you sure this old man can help Christian?" Emma asked, while I drove my car through the streets of North Salem, NY.

"Charles is one of the world's foremost minds in the field of psychology, it is almost impossible to find someone more qualified, especially considering his powers." Angela responded.

"That's what I'm worried about, I don't want a telepath messing with my brother's mind. I know exactly how dangerous something like that can be." Emma complained, and I could understand her point. She knew better than us how dangerous a powerful telepath could be.

It is the start of July, and it's been over a month since Emma joined our group, and things have been going crazy since then. With Emma gathering information for us, and Angela around to heal me of anything serious, I massively increased my efficiency. Emma could find pretty much any ongoing crime, or criminal operation north of central park, right from inside her apartment. I was able to do some hard hits the Kingpin's operation, not only looting his warehouses and money stashes, but also a few other things I wouldn't ever be able to find without Emma's help, a few small businesses that he used to launder money, an underground casino, a few loan sharks that worked for him, and even one of his personal safe houses.

I had help for a few of those jobs, some of them were a little too big for me to do alone, even with Emma helping me by putting a few thugs to sleep, so I asked Matt and Jessica to help me a few times, hell, even Johnny Storm joined us for the casino job. That one was quite fun, the four of us, plus Emma supporting us from the safety of her apartment, were able to shut down a casino that took two floors of a building in only a couple of minutes. Johnny is massively overpowered for those kinds of street level fights, and his fame only makes things easier since a lot of the thugs actually surrender when they see him.

All those jobs ended up adding to a massive paycheck for me, I ended up making over $16 million in the first month since Emma joined us, and my next paycheck seemed like it would be just as big. I spent a lot of that money already, around five million in total, I bought a nice car for myself, a few more expensive items of furniture for both of my apartments, but the big one was the land I bought from a few of the condemned buildings in Harlem, the ones that were so destroyed during the fight between the Hulk and Abomination, that they wouldn't be repaired. I was thinking of using that land to build my permanent base. Stark will have his tower, but I will just build a bigger one for my group, the added benefit of it is that it will piss him off, since his ego can't stand his tower not being the biggest building in the city. And if anyone asks why I want to piss him off, I will just admit it is because he is an asshole, sure, I like the guy, but I can't deny that he is an asshole.

The rest of the money I invested in Stark Industries. The stock is still going down, mostly because people are scared since Tony hasn't been seen in public since he returned from Afghanistan. I now own around $20 Million in Stark Industries stocks, which amounts to around 0.0008% of the total, Stark Industries is a billion dollar company after all. Even Emma started investing some of the money I'm paying her, once I explained her the fact that Stark is too smart to not have a plan, and even if he doesn't, his company is too big, and has enough diversification to fail. She still doesn't fully believes me that Stark will turn things around, but she was willing to invest a few thousand dollars from her first paycheck.

And it is a proper paycheck, I hired her as my PA, I was even able to swing it as a publicity stunt, it helps explain her abnormally large wages. The fact that she ran away from home is public knowledge, but she is still a Frost, her name caries weight for the old money crew. Once information got around that she is working for me, I even received an invitation to a party next month, from Edward Buckman no less. It seems I still have an in with Hellfire, even with Emma not being there.

Things have also been good in my personal life. I've been spending a lot of time with Johnny Storm, and the guy is actually becoming a good friend of mine. He is a little older than me, but he is also really immature, so it balances out. We've been spending time together because Angela has also been spending a lot of her time in the Baxter Building.

Angela exchanged phone numbers with Reed that day we met him after my fight with Tombstone, and they have been in contact ever since. Angela is really happy to have people to talk to that really understand her research, I try, but I'm not that smart. On the other hand, both Reed and Susan can keep up with her intellect, so she ended up making friends with the two of them, which resulted in me spending time with Johnny and Ben.

I'm happy for her, I like seeing that happy look on her face whenever she has an intellectually engaging conversation with Reed and Susan. And her friendship helped me find two guys that are quickly becoming my best friends in this world. Johnny is always up for a fun time, be it clubbing, or going to the track and testing out my Lambo against his custom built car. And Ben is that kind of guy that will always help you out with anything, the kind of person that you can't stop yourself from caring about, the guy is the definition of a good person.

Emma managed to make a good impression on the FF when she met them, and Reed actually agreed to put his name on a letter of recommendation for her. Susan seemed to see Emma as a younger version of herself, and I can see it. They are both super hot blondes, and both are extremely smart, just in different ways. Susan is scientifically smart, while Emma is a genius when it comes to business and politics. It was also a little funny to see Johnny trying to flirt with Emma, I had never before seen such a nasty rejection in such polite words before, but Emma somehow managed to do it.

My relationship with Jessica has also been going well, although we did have a few rough days when Emma joined our group. It was almost immediately clear that Jessica's indifference towards Angela didn't extend to Emma. The two of them were at each other's throats as soon as they met. It was fun to watch Emma subtly insult Jessica, while Jessica was a little more direct with her insults. They never got into a physical confrontation, but their catfights were got quite nasty by the end of the first week.

Angela decided to intervene when things started to get a little out of hand, and she sat down with the two of them to talk things out. Angela isn't the same age as canon Overwatch, I can select the age of any companions I buy from the game store, and I selected her age to twenty eight, and she is now twenty nine since she had a birthday in May. But even if she is only nine years older than Jessica, and eleven than Emma, she still can pull rank as the older woman, so she was able to get Jessica and Emma to at least act cordial to each other. They still fight, and I don't think they will ever like each other, but at least they aren't ripping each other apart every time they spend more than a few minutes in the same room.

After Angela talked to them, I took a couple of days to just spend doing fun things with Jessica, showing her that I care about her and that she will always have a place with me, and it seemed to help her calm down a little. She enjoyed having a few days of doing nothing and just spending time together, although the little smirk she always sent Emma's way when grabbed my hand as we walked showed that she was happy for a different reason than the one I wanted her to be.

The good news, at least for me, about the girls competing with each other, was that Emma actually started to respond to my flirting. Sure, she was doing it just to annoy Jessica, I could see it by the smug look she had on her face whenever Jessica saw the two of us flirting. But there is only so much fake flirting someone can do before they actually start to enjoy it, she was opening up to me without even realizing she was doing it.

I was a little afraid that it would mess up my relationship with Jessica, but she had stated before that she didn't expect me to be exclusive, and when we talked about it for a second time, she once again said that she doesn't care about other women, as long as I reserve some of my time for her. I realized that it was the system doing it because she still didn't seem to care when I name dropped Emma in that conversation. The two of them were constantly using me in their fights against each other, but Jessica didn't care if I actually started to date Emma. Yeah, that's the system fucking with their minds and facilitating a harem for me, I'm perfectly ok with that.

I also still had S.H.I.E.L.D agents following me. There are a few people that are always around wherever I go, most of them are nameless agents, but I did recognize Sharon Carter following me once. She is the only shield agent that I actually felt safe to search for information on the internet, mostly because I searched for her aunt and she was listed as family in Peggy's Wikipedia for some reason. There was also the new guy that moved into my building, right next door to my apartment, and I know that apartment wasn't for sale because I tried to buy it, but the owner didn't want to sell, and now, he decided to sell his place to another person when he knows I would still be willing to buy it. That's a giant red flag and a frankly amateur move from S.H.I.E.L.D.

I started to do constant sweeps of my place, looking for any surveillance equipment that my new neighbor might place there. My lock is pretty good, it is a smart lock that I paid Reed to make for me, but an agency as well funded as S.H.I.E.L.D will always be able to work around it, they have surveillance in the Baxter Building after all, and that place is a fortress compared to my apartment. So, only a few days after my new neighbor moved in, I found a few bugs in my apartment. I took down all the cameras, but left the ones that only transmit audio in place. So they know I know there is someone trying to spy on me, but they still think they managed to sneak some surveillance in.

I ended up using another rookie mistake that they made whenever I wanted to have conversations that I didn't want them to know. Almost every room in my place was bugged, except for the bathrooms. I guess they didn't want to hear me take a shit, but the point is that they left two blind spots in my apartment. So, whenever I need to talk about something I don't want S.H.I.E.L.D to know, I go to the bathroom. It is fun seeing Emma's disgusted face whenever we have meetings in the bathroom.

And then, there is also my redhead stalker, also known as Black Widow. She is always at the club whenever I go, and she tried to approach me a few times, it was fun turning her down the few times she tried. And it was even more fun watching Johnny try to chat her up the last time we went clubbing, knowing that I could walk up to her, give her a shitty pick-up line, and she would be all over me. She seemed to be getting a little frustrated that she wasn't having any success, and I imagine she will try something a little more aggressive the next time she sees me.

"Isaiah, what do you think of this Xavier?" Emma asks me, stopping her arguments with Angela for the moment.

"I agree with Angela on the fact that he is one of the best psychologists in the world. But I don't trust him, and I'm pretty sure this Institute of his will be filled with young mutants ready to be indoctri… I mean learn, from the perfectly unbiased Xavier." I responded, not taking my eyes of the road as we approach the gates of the Xavier Institute.

I can almost feel the smug look Emma is giving Angela, and hear Angela rolling her eyes. Whatever the game did to make Angela know Xavier, seemed to do enough to also make her trust him. I only agreed to ask for his help with Christian because I know Emma is capable of both defending herself from another telepath, and keep an eye on her brother. I'm pretty sure when it comes to telepathic combat Emma is more powerful than Xavier, sure, he is the more powerful overall, but shutting down minds is Emma's specialty.

"I can already feel a couple of telepaths brushing against my mind." Emma says in a smug tone as I stop the car in front of the gates.

"We are approaching their home. Of course they are going to be watching everything that goes around here." Angela responds in a tired voice. Emma has been winning all arguments since we left the city.

"Yes, but one of the telepaths seem to be around my age. I guess Isaiah was right when he said that there are young mutants here to 'learn the right way of thinking'." Emma responded still sounding smug.

Angela just shook her head and got out of the car, leaving Emma smirking at me as we watch Angela press a button on a touch screen and talk for a few seconds before the gates open for us. She got inside the car again and I drove past the gates, making our way towards the impressive mansion.

The place has a neoclassical look to it, with tall marble columns around the entrance, three floors including the ground, which is actually four because I know this place has a large basement. The mansion is large enough to hold maybe a couple hundred students. There are a few teenagers hanging around in the gardens, and I can see a couple of guys playing a one v one on a basketball court on the far left near the limits of the property.

As I stop the car in the small parking lot I see who is waiting for us, Mr. Sunglasses indoors and punchable face himself, Scott Summers. I never really liked him in the comics, he always seemed like an arrogant guy with a stick up his ass, and I'm pretty sure the only reason his powers can only be stopped by ruby quartz glasses is for him to complete the douchebag look by wearing sunglasses indoors. I distinctively remember him complaining about his powers because he can 'only see red', completely ignoring the fact that there are mutants like Rogue out there, that can't even touch someone without killing them. I don't exactly remember where I've read this one, maybe it was in a fan fiction, but the important fact is that I don't like Cyclops.

"Doctor Ziegler, Mister Jones, Miss Frost, welcome to Xavier's school for gifted youngsters. The professor asked me to escort you to his office." Cyclops says, approaching us once we are out of the car.

"And what is your name, young man?" Angela asks. Before coming here we agreed that she would be the one to take point on this meeting, she knows Xavier due to the game crafting her back story in this world, and I'm self aware enough to know I'm biased against him.

"I'm Scott Summers, Doctor Ziegler." Scott responded.

"Then lead the way, Scott." Angela says with a small smile, and I can almost see the main male teenage brain take over, which is the brain in the… smaller head. Thank the ROB that I'm almost twenty one and my hormones aren't as crazy out of control as they used to be. Because, at seventeen, I would also be thinking with the smaller head if a hot older woman was being friendly towards me.

As we walk through the corridors of Xavier's school, I pay close attention to all the students I can see, trying to recognize any of them. I can clearly recognize Kitty Pryde, both from her comic book looks, and from my internet search when I arrived in this world. She was walking with another easy to recognize girl, the goth look and the streak of white in her otherwise brown hair are iconic, and it shows me once again how messed up this world is. What I know from canon is that Rogue only shows up at Xavier's after she takes the powers of Ms. Marvel, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't have those powers right now. I will need to look up information on Carol Danvers, I can't be blindsided by things like that, or else I'm going to end up picking a fight with someone a lot more powerful than I realize.

I recognize a few other students on our way to Xavier's office. The blue demon looking dude is pretty hard to miss, even if he is trying to hide from us inside a dark room. Another person that is here but shouldn't be is Lorna Dane, Polaris, daughter of Magneto himself. Although, judging by the look on her face, she doesn't want to be here. I also recognize the tall man that passes by us just before we reach the door to Xavier's office, but I already knew that Colossus was here. I was keeping an eye for when his sister shows up again. Helping Illyana could be a nice in with the X-Men, but I don't need to do that now since I already have an in, on the form of a hot Swiss doctor no less.

Scott opens the door for us and I can see that Xavier isn't alone inside his office. Mister shiny head himself is behind his desk, in all the glory of his middle age, wheelchair, and extremely powerful mind, but it is the black skinned, white haired goddess standing behind him that catches my attention. Just like every 'main character' I have ever seen in this world, Storm is unbelievable beautiful, decently sized breasts, long legs and a figure that women would kill for, coupled with the contrast between her hair and skin, it all added into a woman that you could only look upon once, and never forget about her.

Of course, those two aren't the only ones inside the office. The blue fur and lab coat makes Hank McCoy easy to see, even if I'm still a little distracted by Storm. The guy looks a bit like the Beast from X-men First Class, and that marks him as only the second person I have seen in this world that looks like a movie version of the character, the other being Tony Stark.

But then my eyes are once again taken by an unbelievable vision of beauty, one that looks to be around Emma's age, with flaming red hair, jade green eyes, and a presence that almost screams 'look at me, I'm hot'. It is difficult to explain how beautiful Jean Grey truly is, but I immediately realize that it isn't entirely natural. The Phoenix is enhancing the perception that others have of Jean, making her look more appealing, making others want to be around her, and it terrifies me a little bit. Jean still doesn't have a full connection to the Phoenix and it is already influencing people like that, and even worse, it is influencing me despite my gamer system. Sure, I can feel the influence, but I'm still getting caught in it. I guess that is the power of a cosmic entity, not even my system is enough to completely nullify it.

"Charles, it is good to see you again after all these years." Angela says as we walk inside the room.

"Angela, you are even more beautiful than the last time I saw you." Xavier says, with a smile on his face. I already didn't like him and now he is flirting with my girl.

"And you are still as silver tongued as ever." Angela responds, making Xavier laugh.

"Let me introduce you to my companions. The one to my right is Isaiah Jones, my new partner, for lack of a better word. And the one to my left is Emma Frost, a friend of ours." Angela says, introducing us to Xavier. He looks both me and Emma on the eyes, and I know the hypocrite is still trying to look into my mind. Probably not Emma's though, she would definitely lobotomize him if he tried.

"Welcome to my school, Mister Jones, Miss Frost. And I have to congratulate you on such a powerful defense, Miss Frost. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of telepaths I have encountered that are in a similar power level to your own, and I'm including myself on that number." Xavier says, still smiling a little.

"It is a pleasure to meet an academic as decorated as you, Professor Xavier." Emma says in her cold, diplomatic tone.

"And you, Mister Jones. I have heard about you recently, the waves you're making in the investment world. And now I can see that you have a power similar to Angela's." Xavier says, still with his easy going smile, but his words make me a little nervous.

I'm not 'making waves', my investments are too small for that, so that is a flat out lie, so how can he know about me. A lot a theories run through my head, but only two of them seem likely to give me an answer. Either he has used his telepathy to take the information from someone in New York that knows about me, something that he could easily do since a telepath of his power and experience could probably cover the entire state. Or he has the information from the S.H.I.E.L.D agent watching his school, since it is definitely happening, especially with Logan around, Fury will want to keep an eye on him, and it is entirely possible that an agent could be on the rotation for both my and his surveillance.

"I do have a similar power to Angela's." I say, and then I take a calculated risk and reveal a little more. "I also have some things in common with a certain American war hero, and I've been using my power to make a small difference wherever possible." I add. The serum won't be the only power I will have, so revealing it doesn't cost me much, and it can help me get an in to possibly work together with the X-Men. As much as I don't like Xavier and Cyclops, there are too many powerful threats that are enemies of the X-Men, I need to keep at least an open communication with them, or else I might end up with Magneto or Legion killing me before I even realize they are in the state.

"I just wish every empowered individual had the same mentality." Xavier says, in a mournful tone, and as much as I don't like the guy, I still feel bad for him. I know he is probably thinking about the many powerful villains he personally knows, a few of them his family and friends.

"But Let us not think on the errors of the past. I still have to make a few introductions" He says, shaking his head a little. "The woman behind me is Ororo Munroe, a professor here at the school. The blue furred man is Doctor Hank McCoy, another professor. And the young woman is the first ever student of this school, Jean Grey. She is also the other telepath who's mind you felt, Miss Frost, and I asked her to be here so you two could have a proper introduction." Xavier says, and while Ororo and Hank are perfectly cordial, nodding their heads in greeting, Jean nods her head towards Angela, but when she looks at me her eyes get this weird glassy feeling, like she is looking at me but seeing something else.

When she looks at Emma I almost groan in frustration, just by the look in their eyes I can see this will be another Emma and Jessica situation. Jean looks Emma up and down with an unimpressed look on her face. Emma is dressed in a flattering, extremely expensive white dress that accentuates her beauty. Emma knows she is sexy and isn't afraid to show it, and the smug look she always has on her face, doesn't really help her making friends with women her age.

"A pleasure to meet you all." Angela says before the two teenagers can start the inevitable catfight. She can recognize that look even better than I, so it doesn't surprise me she decided to intervene before things get out of hand, even if it is only delaying the inevitable.

"So, Angela. You called me wanting some help with a psychological issue, why don't you seat down so we can talk about it." Xavier says, moving the conversation forward.

"Professor Xavier, I would prefer not to be involved in this discussion. The ladies can solve it on their own, I'm just the guy with the money." I say chuckling a little at the end. This is something we talked about before coming here. We knew Xavier would have other people in his office, so I would ask to leave, hinting that the ladies want to talk to him in private.

"Of course, Mr. Jones. Ororo, Hank, Scott, Jean, why don't you four give Mr. Jones a tour of the school, while I talk with Angela and Ms. Frost." Xavier says, nodding his head a little towards me, showing his understanding.

"Sure, Professor." Jean says, she then turns towards me with a smile on her face, her eyes still doing that weird thing when looking at me. "Come with us, Mr. Jones, and we will show you the best school in the world." She says, a little pride coming into her tone.

"Lead the way, Ms. Grey." I responded.

"You can call me Jean, Mr. Jones. Ms. Grey makes me feel a little old." She says in a teasing tone.

"Only if you call me Isaiah. I never knew him, but Mr. Jones was my old man." I responded in the same teasing tone.

We leave the room, and I look behind us to see Ororo and Hank smiling and shaking their heads, and I realize why they are smiling when I think about it for a moment. Jean just took charge of the tour, even with a couple of professors coming with us. Hank is the last of our group to leave the room, closing the door behind him, and leaving Xavier alone with Angela and Emma. I almost feel sorry for the guy, I learned in the last month just how good those two can be when they decide to work together.

When the door closes, Jean actually grabs me by the arm, her own going around my, and then starts leading me around, arm in arm as she shows me the school. Hank and Ororo are the only ones that actually tell me something about the school, Jean mostly talk about her time in it, and how it was growing up in the school, while Scott spends most of the time glaring at me, because, for some reason, Jean is flirting pretty heavy with me.

I don't know why she is doing it, I don't even encourage her since I don't flirt back, but she keeps doing it. Hank and Ororo seem to think it is funny, at least the little smiles they have on their faces says so, but Scott seems to hate me already, the guy spends most of the tour glaring at me, I can feel it, even if I can't see due to his sunglasses. I'm almost afraid that he will raise those sunglasses and blast me away, but it is still a little fun to piss him off, I never liked the guy, and his attitude isn't helping. He's not actually dating Jean, so he has no reason to be that jealous.

I also piss off Jean a little by not responding to her flirting, but flirting a little with Ororo. And there is a simple reason for that. I don't want to go to jail. Sure, Jean is unbelievably beautiful, but if I remember my research correctly, she will turn eighteen only next month, at the moment she is still seventeen years old, and if I flirt with her I could end up visiting the new home of the thugs I help the police arrest.

After around half an hour of walking around, we end up in a cafeteria looking place. There are a few teenagers eating or joking around with friends. I see Kitty and Rogue again, but I also see a few other faces I hadn't seen before, and it shows me even more how my meta knowledge might not apply to this world. X-23 is seating right there, with a mountain of food in front of her, and seating with her is Bobby Drake. I would have expected Iceman to be around Kitty and Rogue, but instead, he is seating there, holding hands with fucking Laura Kinney. This world is weird.

I also recognize a few other people, like the kid with the unfortunate name of Warren Worthington III, a Native American girl that I'm pretty sure is Danielle Moonstar, and a guy that I think is Roberto da Costa, Sunspot; who I'm pretty sure should be with hellfire at the moment.

We decide to stay there and wait for Angela and Emma, and we end up talking for another half an hour. I tell a little about my life, how I grew up in an orphanage in New York, which is the truth, since I don't remember anything personal from my previous life. I even end up talking a little about my hero work when Kitty and Rogue join our table, wanting to spend some time with their friend Jean. It is another little thing that shows me the differences of this world; I don't remember those three being as close as they seem in any of the marvel comic worlds.

We are eventually joined by Angela, Emma and Xavier, having finished their meeting. Emma gives me a little nod before seating down, letting me know that she agreed with Xavier helping her brother. We end up talking for another hour before we leave, Warren joining us when he sees Emma, apparently the two of them know each other from parties that their parents forced them to attend when they were younger. I already expected something like that, rich people always know other rich people their age.

By the time we leave we have a few blossoming friendships with people from the Xavier School. Angela seemed to get along great with Hank, the two of them having a lot in common with their works. I also enjoyed my time talking with Ororo, and I can see the two of us becoming friends. I stopped flirting with her pretty quickly since I don't think we are really compatible, Storm is a little too intense for me, good for a friendship, but definitely not someone I want to be romantically involved with. Emma, surprisingly, got along great with Jean, even exchanging numbers before we left. The two of them were still sniping at each other, but it seemed a lot more like good natured teasing, than the quite nasty verbal fights that Emma had with Jessica. Jean also kept looking at me in that weird way, which was a little unnerving, but I still ended up giving her my number before we left, mostly just to piss off Cyclops.

After saying our goodbyes, we got inside the car and I drove off, I had to get back to the city in time to meet Johnny and Jessica at the club tonight.

AN 2: We finally meet the X-Men, and Jean Grey seems a little too interested in our MC.

There is something going on there, but we will only learn about it in the future.

Next chapter we go clubbing with Jessica and Johnny, and maybe meet a certain spy there.

I will see you guys in the next one.
