This had been on my watch-list for forever and finally had an excuse to watch it PrettyMuchIt style. Great commentary!

So glad you reacted to this, I watched the movie back when it was in theaters and was so traumatized I never watched it again. Watching it along a reactor though, it kinda cushions the blow, so thanks! And yes, one of my top five directors as well, looking forward to Blade Runner 2049!

Amazing film, so glad you picked a lesser-known indie to react to. It's so tragically beautiful and, like you said, really masterful storytelling the way it peels back the layers and hangs tension in every scene. I'm glad you were able to appreciate it despite how tough and depressing it is (wonder if Abby would watch it). Apparently the country this takes place in is deliberately left vague, though with the French influence, the Levantine landscape, and the Muslim-Christian civil war, it's very, very similar to Lebanon (filmed in nearby Jordan).

This movie is so depressing but like you said, is one of those movies I can only watch once because of how emotionally drain it can be at the end. Great commentary.
