Gundam Seed: Kira Reloaded Chapter 12

There were three projects which Kira was working on at this very moment.

With the limited resources he had, it was meticulous work.

The first one was the 360-view cockpit. It wasn't just putting all the monitors in a simple spherical shape. The OS had to be upgraded.

Thankfully nearly half of it is ready since he is reusing the basics of the previous OS. The issue he needs to deal with is that he will be removing the majority of buttons and the metres.

He will be going pure digital for this kind of model.

'However, the issue is battery life. This is why this is nowhere near ready. I need to work on deuterium batteries.

I should be able to sell this idea to ORB… though will we end up there?'

The Teen Coordinator frowned as he thought about this. Not only that, but what about Lacus? He does partially trust the Eight Fleet Admiral's character.

He hopes that there won't be issues and that he won't need to take drastic actions.

The second project was Beam rifles. Yes, Kira didn't stop upgrading his main weapons. He has three spare batteries. His goal is to make a more powerful Beam rifle.

Similar to how Freedom had its beam Rifle. Strike's Beam Rifle lacks the sheer force. To work around that he needs to improve the battery, which in turn will allow him to have a Beam Rifle which shoots with more force.

And finally, the third project, well more like salvaging, and that is working with Blitz's pieces.

Unlike the other four GAT units, this one has a Mirage Colloid, this thing is a particle that is spread through the surface of the entire machine. Once it's spread all over the machine's surface, it becomes invisible.

The downside of this prototype machine is that Phase Shift Armour has to be turned off.

This makes Blitz vulnerable to physical rounds and damage.

However, what Kira wanted was to see the particle emitters all over this machine's body.

With schematics in his hand, he quite quickly found all he wanted to find. What he did next was to disassemble the limbs and check how it worked.

After all, he wants to master this technology before he adds anything to his Strike.

While not everyone noticed, Kira knows his machine better than any mechanic on the Archangel.

He wants to make it better. To make it better, you need to master the current state and know where he could improve.

'Here is an idea… a needle thrower. A gun which shoots Blitz's Needle-spikes.'

Those metal-like darts are shot from Trikerios' shield.

If Kira reworks the part that they are shot from a rifle instead of a shield…

'Empowered by Mirage Colloid, it could technically be a Capital Ship destroyer.'

With a small smile creeping up his lips his Coordinator's mind already started making the maths for this kind of weapon.

'Yes, it's possible, and unlike others, I will be walking on a completely new route. There was never a weapon made with this specific particle.' Kira thought about this while stroking his chin.

He then pressed a button on his earpiece.

"Legion, create a new project, name it Needle Thrower."

[Project 'Needle Thrower' created.]

"Compile all we know about Mirage Colloid, Trikerios, Beam Rifle frames, and rifle batteries."

[Compiling… Please Wait…]

As that was happening, Kira had his laptop in his hands and checked the Projects.

He could see the new project appear there.

This was a new milestone for him as he was creating weapons from the ground up. Most importantly, he is weaponizing the Mirage Colloid. It has never been done before.

Even in the future, it was always used as support like Wings of Light which gives unprecedented speed and even leaves after images of the machines when it's moving.

And EVEN then, it's used in short bursts.

Though it has only been a few moments, he already has an idea of how this is going to work.

He will reuse the Trikerios as an ammo case. The only thing he needs is a handle and a barrel…

'Like a miniature linear catapult.'  He hummed to himself as he walked back to his makeshift workshop he has next to Strike.

Well, even calling it a workshop is a stretch. It's a table with a few items on it.

'I do need a design tablet. It's sad how technology has regressed, and touch screens do not exist in this place.

I think it's something to do with specific metal getting out of use. Well, I think it's just a sad excuse to focus on space tech instead of that other.'

This doesn't mean that he won't be working on this. Instead, he will need to use his laptop's touchpad.

Though with just a few moments, he already had a first look at how the weapon was going to look.

It was similar to those weapons, which had a big magazine sticking out in the middle.

After seeing this weapon, Kira immediately decided to add a secondary battery as well. The reason for this is that he wants to electrify the barrel or, in this case, rails.

The first battery will power the Mirage Colloid, and the second one will electrify the rails.

This should make the needle reach unprecedented speeds.

"Kid, what are you working on? You've been at this for a few hours now!"

The lieutenant's voice got Kira out of his work. He already worked out how to make the needles launch and load into the Trikerios' needle holder. What he was working on, more specifically, to make it launch and not allow the whole thing to explode in his face.

"I've been toying with Trikerios and Mirage Colloid," Kira said with a small satisfied smile on his face. He is quite happy with his progress.

"Oh?" This got the Lieutenant curious. After all, it looks like a weapon!

"Yes, check this out." The Teen Coordinator showed his Alpha Design of the Needle Thrower.

"I took the Trikerios shield and turned it into a rifle. The handle can be taken from the spare beam Rifle, the only thing which needs to work is a miniature linear catapult."

The older man slowly nodded as he inspected the weapon.

"So you are saying… will you be shooting those spikes? Aren't they going to be slow? Even with that linear catapult for the barrel."

"Yes, but this is where the Mirage Colloid projector comes into play. Each of Blitz's limbs has a small projector that emits this particle. The particle itself makes metal move faster or invisible. Depending on the use.

So when we combine this with the linear catapult… technically, I will be shooting miniature Comets or Asteroids, if you will." Kira said while he had a thoughtful look on his face.

Since it was in space, this stuff could last much longer. However if he is to use this on Earth's surface, it would have a much shorter range.

"I see… so you are already planning to weaponize the new loot you collected." The blonde Moebius Zero pilot said with a twitchy smile.

It appears he is already building another huge weapon. That Ultra Impact Sniper Rifle was just a test run from looking at it.

"I am just improving my experience in weapon making. If I am successful with this, then I did something that no one else did."

After saying his piece, he returned to the design.

Mu La Flaga slowly nodded before walking away, leaving the kid to his devices. As long as their Mobile Suit pilot is happy, then he is satisfied as well.

However, he doesn't want him to overwork. There is a way to make him relax. It's not a hidden secret that the kid has his crush on the Pink girl whom they have on the ship.

So when the Lieutenant saw the girl trying to sneak into the hangar, he decided to help her.

"Princess, Kira has been working on something. From the looks of it, he is quite engrossed in it. It would be for the best if you go there and take him to the mess hall for some food."

Lacus slowly nodded. She was a little bit embarrassed for getting spotted so easily.

"I-I understand."

"Good. Keep him safe. From the looks of it, he only pays extra attention when you are involved." The blonde said with a smirk as he saw how the pink head reacted to his words.

'it appears she already knows. The boy is quite bold.'

"I will, no worries." Lacus nodded before walking into the hangar. Now that she has a legitimate reason, there is no need for her to sneak around.

A few moments later, she floated into the Hangar and went straight to Kira's location.

The girl was slightly more bold as well, as he hugged him from behind.

"Lacus?"

"Kira, you've been working on this for several hours. Why don't you take a break and come with me to the Mess Hall to get some food?" She asked with a sweet voice.

Which made him nod at her.

"Sure thing. Let's go."

Hearing how easily he caved in made her smile for a bit.

After several adjustments to the designs, the Needle Thrower, or by this point, Needle Launcher, was on its way to fruition.

The mechanics were all on the board to work on this thing. It was a fascinating experience as they wanted to see how this weapon would work.

First of all, it was possible to make it because all the parts were there. The miniature linear catapult was not an issue because they all had spare parts for it. The battery size was shaved down.

The design of the battery for a rifle and the mobile suit was nearly identical. The Beam rifle technology was developed from the Mobile suit battery.

The issue with such a weapon is that it can only be used three times.

So Kira programmed the weapon to use the battery as much as possible. To make the shots as deadly as possible.

What took him over a day of working was to find the perfect ratio for Mirage Colloid which was taken from the hand of the Blitz, and to make it work on the miniature catapult rail.

Timers and synchronisation were added to it.

All of this wouldn't be possible if Kira didn't have his A.I. doing all the maths in the background.

"Do you think… is it safe to use this?" Murdoch asked while scratching the back of his head. The weapon does look like a makeshift creation from one's tool shed.

"I did the basics tests with it already. The batteries with Mirage Colloid work perfectly, the only issue is to see how powerful the needle will be after it's launched from the weapon."

Kira said with crossed arms as he looked over the five-metre-long weapon.

They already solved the issue of getting more ammo for the Blitz's Trikerios needles.

They are going to reuse all the scrap they collected over the journey.

"...That's impressive, though do tell us when you are running tests on it." The head mechanic said with some worry.

They don't want an explosion!

"Are you sure? I run tests all the time. I even have A.I. To do it constantly on Strike and his weapon." The teen Coordinator questioned him, this would be a drag to do it.

"..."

"On second thought, it tells us when the test could end up dangerous," Murdoch said with a forced smile.

"That's the idea. While this weapon should technically be powerful, the issue is that it has two batteries, so I will need to recharge them separately." Kira said with a frown. This sort of tech should only be used by battleships. That is, if it's going to work.

Mirage Colloid is a completely new plateau that they haven't explored much.

'Earth Alliance went with beam redirection while ZAFT invented Wings of Light.

While I… I will invent something on my own.'  The Teen Coordinator grinned for a second. It's time to test this bad boy out!
