Collar6 Remastered #01

Before I begin, I wanted to announce that Collar6 #1090 is coming Saturday. The week after will be Collar(ed)6 #17. The week after? Well, I'll hold a poll for that one~

For those who don't follow me on any other sites or social media, this is my compilation of the first several strips from back in `09, colourized and edited. I'm going to give this treatment little by little to the entire storyline. (Well, not recolouring anything, as it's already coloured and it'd take years to do so!)

There are parts of it I've always regretted. The coffee segment has bothered me for ages. The way Sixx treats Laura early on. The whole 'oh, you didn't know I'm a millionaire?' reveal. The bit where Evita implanted fake memories of being tormented into Trina that I later had to write a convoluted explanation for, as it's not in line with Evita's character. And lots and lots and LOTS of redundant conversation. And so on. I plan to take the 'Dragon Ball Kai' approach, which if any of you are familiar, meant removing filler garbage.

This is something I had been thinking about in passing for the last few years, but my answer was 'just reboot it'. And I was going to do just that, with CollarV. But after going through my archives in the wake of the Tumblr nonsense, I realized that I don't want or need to retell this story. I like these characters. I like this world. It's dumb and silly and full of fun possibilities. I don't really want to overwrite it with a reboot. But I do want to remove a lot of excess dialogue and non-con situations because those just don't set well with me anymore.

These early strips were made with a 'kinky but not porny' approach. I tossed that aside several years later, believing upping the sexual factor would win me an audience. But it hasn't. The audience who has stuck around cared more about the characters and the world itself. The porny parts were just spice, as I'm told.

Thing is, I like erotica. I like drawing BDSM, sexy situations and ESPECIALLY rubber. And I'm not going to stop. But there are parts of this comic I'm going to edit out into oblivion (see above) because they upset me today.

If you're worried this means the end of stories like Collar(ed)6, don't be. I'm still going to provide my wonky version of erotic sexy stuff here. Like I said, I like drawing smut. Especially rubber smut.

And I guess the last announcement is one I've already made: Collar d6 is going to become my new free comic. As I said, I don't want to retread Collar6, I like the cast (for the most part) as they are. Collar d6 gives me a chance to do a lot of things I've wanted to do. Like have the cast in different settings and costumes as they play different games. Michael as the GM just really strikes me as amusing, and I get to toy with the idea of Collar6 being a game played by people who wanted to *be* those characters. And which 'awakened' a few of them (Michelle *cough* Laura *cough*) to realizing they want BDSM to be more than a roleplaying game in their lives. Yeah, I've been thinking about this for a while.

So I guess that's it for the announcements. I hope my decisions here don't lose me my audience here. I'm sure the response from some people will be to tell me I'm kissing up to Tumblr, but the reality is that Tumblr probably isn't going to let me stay up regardless. There's risque parts of C6 I will not remove that their bots will probably flag. But there's other places where my brand of erotica is considered tame at best, and I will live on there. And through here.

Thank you everyone for enduring all of this with me. For keeping me funded and working. And for making my life as a cartoonist possible. Here's to many more strips both smutty and silly!

Collar6 Remastered #01

Comments

Looks like a really nice remaster so far, both coloring in the original strips and having the starting panels combined into a far larger whole (along with other tweaks, ones I would have to examine the original to see just what's different between the two)... Wonder what other changes will be made in the later strips, both to make the story flow better and to avoid certain issues which popped up in the original tale? I don't know for certain, but I'm certainly very keen to find out how it goes. Looking forward to seeing how this version will turn out! As for the Collar d6 idea, that also sounds like it's going to be very fun to see... I wonder if we'll end up seeing Michelle and Laura trying on latex for the very first time in this strip (and I mean the people who had played those characters, since neither of them might have decided to experiment with the concept until they had started playing this game)? That, along with us seeing how the 'real world versions' of certain characters differ from the ones we have seen them 'play as', that's going to make things very interesting. It would certainly be very ironic if the 'Laura' in the actual relationship between her and 'Michelle' was a bit (or even a whole lot) more dominant than how her character was played!

Hello, the remasterd is realy good. *tumbs up* I still love the original and would like to access it somehow. I'll be sad about everything that'll be edited out, I realy like your comic. Greetings Juy Juka

Thank you, I hope to not disappoint!

I don't know if there's a really a pivotal moment so much as the slow grind of time and my consistently churning these out. You just pick up on little things that you like or learn 'work' for yourself.

I'm going to have to splice and edit like hell, but I think I can take the sizable foundation and make something much better~

Thank you so very much! <3 <3 <3

I'm in for the long haul. You tell a good story with good art. Produce what makes you happy and I'll give you a little bit each month to help that continue to happen.

This was a prefect restart to the series. It feels like the right approach. I look forwards to see where the story goes in this remastered series.

Wild Card

I like the sound of Collar d6! I can't wait to start reading it!

Having watched this from the beginning, I noticed your art evolve over time. At what point did you feel your style "solidified" into what you are doing today?
