New Voting System - Battle Royale

Hello there, Meinos Kaen here!

So, after the debacle of two parties having a lots of fun with the second round of this month's Route Event Poll, I decided that a new system was needed from next month onward, which I called the Battle Royale.

This is a radically different system than a simple StrawPoll, and it also opened up the high-end Patreon tiers. There's no longer a limited amount of it and not only that, now more Patrons can vote for the same character. What does that mean? How does this system work?

Step 1

First of all, Patrons from 40$ up for New Dates and from 50$ up for New Characters make their nomination. Not only does this get their character in the roster, but it also gives that character 10 Points. Keep the concept of points in mind, because it will be important.

Step 2

After all the Patrons have made their nominations, I complete the rosters. Each voting will have a roster with a minimum of 6 or 8 characters. Each character gets 10 Points. Each nomination or vote from a High Tier Patron gives it 10 extra Points.

Example - A Roster contains Yang, Ruby, Pyrrha, Emerald, Neo and Nora. They all get 10 base points each.
Yang - 10 Points
Ruby - 10 Points
Pyrrha - 10 Points
Emerald - 10 Points
Neo - 10 Points
Nora - 10 Points
Now, let's say that Yang and Nora got in the roster through a High Tier Patron Nomination. That nets them 10 extra points each.
Yang - 10 Points + 10 Points (20)
Ruby - 10 Points (10)
Pyrrha - 10 Points (10)
Emerald - 10 Points (10)
Neo - 10 Points (10)
Nora - 10 Points + 10 Points (20)
And finally, a third patron, instead of nominating a third character, decides to vote for Nora again. That nets her 10 more points.
Yang - 10 Points + 10 Points (20)
Ruby - 10 Points (10)
Pyrrha - 10 Points (10)
Emerald - 10 Points (10)
Neo - 10 Points (10)
Nora - 10 Points + 10 Points + 10 Points (30)

Step 3

At this point, I open a public poll. Everyone will be able to vote, but it will only remain open for 24 hours. At the end of the votation, each vote will be one extra point for the character.

Example - At the closure of the poll, Ruby and Neo got 26 votes, Yang and Pyrrha got 18 votes, Emerald and Nora got 15 votes. Those votes turn into points, which means that then they would have...
Yang - 10 Points + 10 Points + 18 Points (38)
Ruby - 10 Points + 26 Points (26)
Pyrrha - 10 Points + 18 Points (28)
Emerald - 10 Points + 15 Points (25)
Neo - 10 Points + 26 Points  (26)
Nora - 10 Points + 10 Points + 10 Points + 15 Points (45)

Step 4

Then the battle royale step begins. It is literally a battle, in the sense that those points become life points and the characters will try and eliminate each other by rolling dices.

Initiative Check - First of all, the characters roll Initiative to decide the battle order. Each character gets a single d20 roll. The higher the result, the earlier in the turnation the character is. If two characters roll the same amount, the one with the less points goes first.

Example - All characters roll initiative. Yang gets a 7, Nora gets 15, Ruby 12, Emerald 19, Neo 10 and Pyrrha another 7. Yang and Pyrrha are tied but since Pyrrha has less points than Yang, she goes first. So the action order would be...
Emerald -> Nora -> Ruby -> Neo -> Pyrrha -> Yang

Battle Step

And now for blood to be drawn! In order, each of the contendants have to make two rolls each turn: a targeting roll and a damage roll.

For the targeting roll, the character rolls a dice with as many faces as there are contestants, where each number corresponds to the initiative order.

Example - Emerald goes first. There are six contestants, so she rolls 1d6. She gets a 4, so her target is Neo.

If a character gets her own number, it means she has to reroll.

For the damage roll, each contestant will always roll 1d10. The result is the damage, which gets subtracted by the target's total points. If a character ends up with 0 points after an attack, she's out of the fight.

The turn for each character doesn't end here, though, because if the targeted character survives they can counterattack with their own 1d10. After the counterattack resolves, their turn ends and we move to the next character in the Initiative Order.

Depending on the poll, the last two or the last one standing wins.

So, what do you think? A bit more exciting and random, hm? I may even make videos for each battle royale... Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

That makes sense to me

Sounds pretty complicated, though at least it's less prone to manipulation than Strawpoll. The randomness aspect could cause some pretty unreasonable upsets though, maybe carry the top 1 (or 2) characters over to the next poll to account for that?

I agree that it seems interesting, but I feel like some people might get upset if the person that got the most votes ends up losing through RNG. I support it but just felt like putting it out there as food for thought.

this is hilarious. i fully support this.

I vote in favour of videos showing how the results pan out
