Cobalt Plus: Hikari and Aya

...The Sarasota skyline was abuzz with traffic as midday progressed on a pleasant autumn day. Aya was sitting along a stretch of beach along Marina Jack Trail, anticipating when Chihaya’s classes had ended so she could begin her visit after a long flight over and settling down at her place that morning. Both Aya and Chihaya had been busy pursing their own goals for some time, the latter even moving to Florida to further pursue her education – her high school education had provided her some university credit, so she didn’t need to worry as much about course load for now. Even though Aya was not as well off as Chihaya, both had enough money to come see one another – much of the past year and a half had been back-and-forth traveling and, of course, spending time diving and hanging out. Chihaya had set aside a room in her apartment for Aya – what was originally a spacious den, but had not been used much ever since Chihaya had moved into the place. In the meantime, Aya thought she would take a quick swim to gather her mind while the time passed. What – or who, rather – she would find out in the water would lead to an interesting afternoon.  

It was not long into her swim that Aya noticed an interesting figure – a girl that looked similar to her, except with slightly longer hair. The girl she saw was certainly fit, but not quite as slim or tan. Even with these details, this new individual was interesting – she even had on a swimsuit that was similar to Aya’s older one-piece. Curiosity took hold and Aya decided to swim over to introduce herself. After saying hello in a cheerful but more reserved manner, the other girl said in an unexpectedly excited manner, “Oh, you must be Aya, right?”  

Aya didn’t know how to respond, feeling a bit confused. Questions quickly began to form in her head. “Who is this girl? How did she know my name?” However, before Aya had the opportunity to ask this new girl anything, the new girl’s leg cramped and she began to sink. Aya quickly darted underwater after her. The girl was quickly scooped up a few seconds after beginning to sink and had been brought back to the surface safe and sound, though the incident had made both her and Aya’s hearts skip a beat. The girl hadn’t swallowed much water, so her coughing was light upon reaching the surface again. As Aya assisted the new girl to shore amid much sailboat traffic in Sarasota Bay, there was yet another person along the shore and signaling them. As the stretch of beach came closer and the person came more into view, yet another slim girl with short hair and a blue one-piece swimsuit was seen standing on the beach…
