Early May Preview (All WIP)

More Trip Hammer Mechanisms

I have a laundry list of heavy mining and construction equipment. Not sure what will make it in this month and what gets pushed into the next month. I'm all over the place with assets for next month, I'll have another preview of all different stuff next week!. Hopefully I can get it down to 6 or 7 themes.  I found a good video of the trip hammer if you are interested. I'm guessing "a bad day at work" was a grim affair back then.

Up in the images we have a style of blacksmith trip hammer(this is how they made sheet metal), trip hammer stamper for busting up mining ore, and a converted stamper for giant bellows operation on a giant blast furnace.  All this stuff has at least 1 foot in actual medieval or earlier history.  We also have a larger style of watermill up there. I will dig into a little aqueduct  system and probably design one more fantasy gravity feed water system for folk that don't want aqueducts running everywhere. The 10+ inch tall blast furnace is designed to line up with our scaffolding set released in Feb/Mar .

Grain stuff and random

I've started getting into a notice board and some vellum  to round out the paper mill stuff. More on that next preview. I have a bunch of grain grinding stones and an iron age granary in the works. Probably go thatch roof on all this to give it a little space from all the other works out there. I have a draft horse I've been poking at, will probably make a go of getting that out this month. It is was generally based on the Brabant before I got into stylizing.

Some Plateaus

I'm going to put out some hills and plateaus, at least one 4 inch tall one with caves and 2 that houses can go on. I've been working a bit on the above ground side of my Frostgrave board and decided that movable styrofoam hills suck. I've always been happy with it but realized I have also always had it fully integrated. I'll put these out as one parts but also cut 2 or 3 times for 8 inch FDM plates.

Comments

Thanks a bunch David:) Its been fun finding all the crazy stuff they made. I have an image of a two arm stone saw I'll get to eventually!

Ah yes that is right. All the trip hammer paper mill stuff is originally out of China. Italy just went big with it after it made it's way over there.. I guess as early as 1000bc :) I'm still learning about it myself!

Thnaks Enrique, yes they an image of the oldest blst furnace on wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blast_furnace They are pretty big. we have a few old ones around where I live, they are maybe half the size, which is still huge!

Thanks Ken:)

BRAVO!

Ken Jarosz

I never seen anything like it before but that looks so cool!

More really awesome machinery, thanks!! Also, I have a Japanese watermill that doesn’t have any interior workings to it, and I think some of this stuff scaled-down will look good in it! (Japanese mills use trip hammers to pound rice, instead of round millstones like Western mills.)

What a fantastic collection!
