[Patron-Only Feed] Words, words, words

Much of my recent work has been executed with a technique with a visual akin to watercolour, for lack of a better comparison. I've enjoyed it, as working in such a manner has allowed me to experiment with my colour expression.

There is still an element of vibrancy, but because the "paint" is not 100% opaque, it looks much more light & airy than my work typically does.

As usual, there's more Patron Suggestions I wanted to do, but didn't.

Lifestyle Stuff...

I've been nocturnal for the last week or two, waking up close to midnight and operating during everyone else's sleep hours. I've enjoyed the silence and calmer atmosphere, although that time has been uneventful. As of the last two days, however, I've awoken earlier in the day. We'll see how long that can last.

My day has been filled with generally more down-time since I've stopped streaming and forcing myself to create content to post every single day. It's definitely allowed my day-to-day life to be overall calmer, but I'm still having difficulty adjusting to my new schedule. I can't help but stress. I'd like to find more meaningful stuff to do during this new down-time.

I still don't feel like I'm making content that matters...

My environment's getting pretty cluttered and messy. I've got a corner of cardboard boxes that I've been accumulating all year...

A look at the numbers...

At the start of this year, I was making $430 on Patreon, and I was hoping to double that value by the end of this year. I don't think that I will.

I've experienced steady growth since the start of the year, but I suppose that's no surprise considering the frequency of which I worked. I don't believe my output is technically good enough to realistically expect that I will reach a position of comfortable success within the next few months, however.

Despite what appeared to be a sudden spike, you can see an obvious drop in which the results are roughly the same as they'd be had the growth rate not been interrupted. Which isn't supposed to be a complaint, as it's still technically growth, but simply an illustration of the phenomenon.

Commissions & Streams...

I've been vocal in the past about my general discomfort with commissions and sacrificing freedom to work for others. Commissions also run the risk of either presenting a product I don't love, or completely redoing the work because I don't believe the work good enough. Not fun.

That being said, if I want to start buying food regularly without feeling as though I'm cutting too deeply into my current funds, I'm going to have to generate additional income.

So I'm likely to open $40 coloured sketch commissions during streams. Although I might stream more frequently in general, I expect to select a specific day of the week to routinely open these stream commissions.

Perhaps every Wednesday

So if I'm able to get at least 2 commissions every week, I should be a bit more comfortable than I am now.

Tech Stuff

Within the last several days, I installed a browser extension called Dark Reader, which alters the colours of a page so that you can have a night-mode for literally any website, with some customization too.

Although it probably adds an extra second or two to page load times, I use it for (bright) websites that I visit frequently, such as Patreon, Lifehacker, and even tumblr blogs with white backgrounds.

I also recently watched the reveal game-play for Cyberpunk 2077 (violence & nudity warning), and I am definitely interested, as it seems to offer a level of role-playing potential that I have not seen in video games since New Vegas (but maybe I'm just not looking in the right direction).

I hope I can be a character with a lower use of profanity though, because I have the cleanest mouth. A lot of what was shown was clearly for the sake of demonstration purposes, so there's a script, for sure, but I hope the finished product is even better and more open-ended than what has been shown.

As per the norm for the end of a month, I'm going to take some time to relax and determine what I want to do with my life in the following month.

Don't forget to eat & sleep.

The Dropbox Archive link will be expiring and need refreshing by the time the next month begins, so don't forget to peek if you haven't.

Comments

I would love the commissions wednesday thing.

Aah. Weird behavior then! I got nothing.

Nah. The issue didn't hit me hard. It just resulted in processing of the payments to be delayed. Those are people who had to drop off.

I think that sudden drop-then-spike was when Patreon had the payment denial issues? Seems about the right timing, and would make sense.

Space Robot

I’d buy that for a Forty Dollars.
