Either way, running can be considered exercise, so it wouldn't be wrong to say I exercised. Then again, maybe it would be.

As the interview date approached, another concern came to mind.

"This is my first time doing a corporate interview..."

When I worked in delivery, the interviews were with smaller companies. They were usually casual, one-on-one conversations with a team leader. But when I asked about interviews at major companies like the Choi Han Group, she said they were usually conducted with five interviewers facing one candidate.

Naturally, I would be the one.

"I might get too nervous and struggle to speak properly..."

The chairman had told me to relax and take it easy. Still, since this was my first experience, it was hard to stay completely calm.

Even if the interview was just a formality, I didn't want to make a poor first impression by stammering or freezing up. I would be letting down not only the chairman, who had placed his trust in me, but also Yeonji, and Yeonhee.

Although my anxiety had eased a bit, I was still worried that I might freeze once the actual interview began.

So, I turned to Ajeong for advice.

"Hmm... I can understand that. I used to work at a big company for a while, and I remember how stressful interviews were."

"Really?"

I was a little surprised. I hadn't expected Ajeong—who was currently wearing maid while cleaning—to have any background in a corporate environment.

"I left the company soon after meeting my ex-husband, but those interviews were so stressful they made me anxious just thinking about them."

She smiled faintly as she recalled those days, and for a moment, I found her even more admirable.

"If you’re that worried, how about we do a mock interview?"

"A mock interview?"

"Yes! Tonight, we can all play the role of interviewers and practice. I have some experience, and so do Jeongyeon and Yeonhee. Yeonji may be young, but she's grown up around this environment and has observed a lot. She’ll be fine too."

"That sounds like a good idea."

A few days before the actual interview, I would be doing a mock interview with a former corporate employee, a current employee, the real owner of a corporation, and the daughter of that owner.

Thinking about it like that made it feel even more nerve-wracking than the real thing.

If a stranger were to walk into that room, even the most confident speaker would probably get tongue-tied.

“It’ll take a while for everyone to gather, so how about we start with a one-on-one practice session?”

“Yes, that sounds great. Thank you!”

Her sly smile reminded me of the one my friend wore when she asked me to teach her how to exercise.

But at that moment, I didn’t pay much attention to it. I was too focused on preparing for the mock interview with Ajeong.

The had prepared a room that resembled an actual interview setting, and I was dressed in a suit.

"This suit costs tens of millions of won… I still can’t get used to it."

My friend gave it to me as a gift last week. It cost as much as a luxury imported car, so wearing it felt burdensome. But she had prepared several more suits for me, as if it was no big deal.

Our perception of money was so different that even after all this time living in her house, I still haven’t fully adjusted.

"Even though it’s just a mock interview, I’m still a bit nervous."

After getting dressed, I stepped into the room and saw Ajeong sitting at the table.

Just moments ago, she had been cleaning in a maid . Now, wearing a clean, formal suit, she looked like a completely different person.

"This too is something I hadn’t expected…"

I had only seen Yeonhee in a suit before. I never really imagined the other women wearing one. But seeing like this, I realized she looked surprisingly good in it.

I was supposed to see my friend and Yeonhee in suits later that night. Thinking about that made me space out for a moment.

“Mr. Lee Joohyun, please take a seat.”

“Ah! Yes, yes!”

Snapping out of my daze, I quickly sat down. Her voice was firm and formal, very unlike her usual tone.

"This really feels like a real interview."

Her serious demeanour made me straighten my back and behave like a proper interviewee.

“There’s no need to be too nervous. Looking too tense can hurt your impression. Try to stay relaxed and composed.”

“Yes, I understand.”

She offered feedback as if this was a real coaching session, and I tried my best to follow her advice.

With her past experience working at a large company and her close relationship with friend, she clearly knew what she was doing. She conducted the mock interview.
