KnockBack, Episode 250 | Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Red Hot Chili Peppers album) (Video)

Comments

The album is too long, if anything.

Colin Moriarty

One of my favorite albums of all time... Though several of the songs are sort of shit... I blame drugs for those tracks

Born-Blind

Love Bill Gould, but I always associate Faith No More first and foremost (musically) with Jim Martin.

Colin Moriarty

We haven't been soliciting comments, so no worries. You didn't miss.

Colin Moriarty

Thanks for listening. =)

Colin Moriarty

LOL.

It's such a banger. I think we'll get to Sorcerer's next year.

Colin Moriarty

Yeah, that's a good one.

Colin Moriarty

Glad to hear it. =)

Colin Moriarty

Awesome. I have very fond memories of it, as well.

Faith No More to answer your bass question.

Damn, I wish I had made the cut for the comments. This album is undoubtedly their magnum opus, the perfect musical fusion at the perfect time in their history as a band. While Chad Smith and John Frusciante were with the band for Mother's Milk, but really found a perfect blend of funk, punk and a little hip hop vocally on BSSM. The jam at the end of "Sir Psycho Sexy" is perhaps one of their best riffs as a band period, Flea drives a steady and active beat while Frusciante's whimsical riffing perfectly complements the gaps. It reminds me in a sense of how Weezer's "Only In Dreams" so emotionally caps off the Blue Album. I know the last song is really a cover of "They're Red Hot" but it's so brief it feels like a "post-credits" add-in.

Matt Di Giacomo

Shit this is my favorite album; look at this podcast!! My favorite band. In college I learned Give it Away for drunken karaoke “my mom I love her cuz she love me / long gong are the times when she scrub me / what I got to give it put it in you”

John Harlan

RHCP are easily in my top 10 bands and were one of my crucial high school influences. Crazy to think about that they can still be high school influences for kids today. Truly a timeless band. Also @DustinCanFly please do a silver-painted photoshop of Dustin (Frusciante - more subdued, yet weaves his artistry in every nook and cranny), Chris (Flea - wacky, funny, other ventures outside of RHCP) Colin (Kiedis - the glue, wordsmith, drew some blood under the bridge), and of course Will Ferrell. Also... Yabba dabba, dabba dabba do now!

Jordan Falduto

Such a fun band. I remember my parents keeping this album on cassette in their car, but not appreciating it for how great it is at the time. Just out of curiosity, as I have been re-reading the series in anticipation of Hogwarts Legacy, when can we expect the Sorcerers Stone episode?

Daniel McGee

I got to see them a few months ago. SO So good! "I Could Have Lied" is such a gem.

Loving all these music episodes!!!
