I think its great. I would have enojoyed it more if I didn't do the side quests from the beginning instead of basically letting myself get burnt out before stopping doing side quests two thrids of the way through. For me my biggest criticism is Freya doesn't feel like a well rounded character so traveling around with her for so long isn't great. Also Mimir, Freya's and Atreus's combat "chatter" or whatever you call it, felt a lot like marvel dialog and style of humar which really bogged me down after hearing those lines so much. In general the writing has a lot of "oh that's giant stuff" and "can't believe I just said that", "because THAT's a normal thing to say" marvel-isms which I would have tolerated much better had I just taken the shortest through line through the story. Great performance by Odin - awesome being in asgard. The way they try and humanize Thor and his wife and child could have worked, but fell felt for me.

Just rolled credits. Give it a Norn out of 10. Great conversation. Appreciate the different points of view. Tried listening to other spoilercast reviews but they had Eric Williams on... hard to be critical / honest in that context.

Doug, just Doug

Colin Missing the Funeral is so Colin. Definitely a must watch moment and it should of been the actual ending.

Great discussion everyone. I absolutely love this game, faults and all. It's one of my favourite games of all time, and my 2nd favourite game of 2022 (1st being Horizon: Forbidden West).

For some reason this episode did not work in my podcast feed, I use Podkicker ( FYI I've had no issues with any other eps). The plus side is i watched my first show on video and thoroughly enjoyed it, great job guys.

I was also thinking about Doom in relation to this game. I found the combatto be a bit tricky at times, and there comes a point when your faced by a lot of enemies and have no health, you know its over and you have to try again. Regaining health from glory kills like in Doom would have been a perfect addition to this combat system.

I 100% agree with Colin, the human storyline stuff is a waste, I would love to see a story about a god story, not them being humanly

The puzzles just seem goofy, generally. Everyone saying how it's exactly like this in the old God of War games are likewise delusional.

Colin Moriarty

The game is special, the most memorable moment was his dream with Faye saying to grieve deeply is to have loved fully. Such a beautiful moment. The criticism is all fair, I actually like the puzzles even if it doesn't fit with Kratos. It feels like an evolution of the Zelda formula to me. I hate the fast travel, especially currently cleaning up the plat.

Thank you for your kind words.

Loved this episode, one of the best Spoilercasts yet. A variety of different opinions and the criticism was reasonable and well communicated. I am calling a Miles Morales style Loki spin off for them to test the waters. I am hoping I am wrong though haha. Nice job guys.

Tyler Kaminski

Indeed...

Theres also a thousand years between Greek and Norse lore, I wonder what Kratos did in all the years between before meeting Faye...

DB Cooper

Thank you for listening.

I'd expected Hoeg to be way more negative based on the initial comments I saw here, and it wasn't really that bad. While I definitely disagree with alot of what he said, the different perspective he added brought a decent balance to the discussion I thought. Excellent spoilercast all round, best one I've heard for this game by far and one of the best period for a good while. Some good discussion and really digging deep on some things. Glad to hear Colin and Chris softened on the game more as they played through it. I thought it was a excellent game myself both for the story and gameplay, but not perfect by any means and the flaws that are brought up are totally valid points

Deemac

I know what I'm talking about! Although it's all opinion.

Originally listening to Colin speak about God of War Ragnorak on Sacred Symbols, I thought he was being too harsh on the game. But the more I played, the more I begun to understand his points. And now after finishing it I have to say I agree with Hoeg the most, except for his opinion on Atreus. It’s a good game, especially the combat, but narratively I didn’t like some things.

I think Rick is a sociopath! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
