Constellation, Episode 30 | Taking Things Too Far, Sentimentality, Ari Aster's Thesis Film, Former Jobs
Added 2023-07-31 16:00:13 +0000 UTC
Welcome one-and-all to yet another episode of Constellation, Last Stand Media's conversational podcast. Today, the Brothers Moriarty invite executive producer Dustin Furman and -- for the first time ever -- editor Lockmort of "Lockmort's Edits" fame to the show. As usual, our topics this week run the gamut. Our special guest Lockmort explores the fine line in comedy where you take things too far, which opens up a wider talk about when in our lives we may have crossed the line with those we care about. Meanwhile, Dustin is eager to talk about our old jobs, and where and how we've managed to make a living over the years. Colin's a sentimental guy, and he wants to know if anyone else feels the same way, spurred on by getting his so-called 'effects' in order over the last few weeks, like old letters and cards. Finally, Dagan does us the service (and disservice) of introducing us to writer and director Ari Aster's infamous student film, which (needless to say) is both horrifying and thought-provoking. Join us, won't you?
Has anyone found this medical video featuring Dustin?

Great show as always. I really hope you guys watch Beau is Afraid soon and have a discussion on that! So absurd, nightmarish and hilarious. Talk about awkward and anxiety inducing…

The great irony of being sensitive to razzing is the way around it is to just not show that sensitivity lol

I can’t agree with Colin on the yawning lol - as long as you put your hand over your mouth - it’s fine. It’s like burping, it just comes out sometimes.

Thank you for sharing that story Lock Mort. I’m now making plans for a long over due visit with my father. We need reminders sometimes how daily life makes us put the most important people on the back burner. Thank you.

Lock Mort has a great narration voice he should do VA work. Such gravitas.
Have you considered considering considerations considerately considerate

😂 I noticed that as well, it's fun to see what little things change in our vocabulary as time goes by.

I had no idea what was coming, but I was glad that I had already left the office before that started. Once he got just a little ways into his story, my heart sank because I knew this was going to get rough. I thought I was going to have to pull over for a minute and just sit there so I didn't start balling my eyes out while driving, but I managed to hold it together other than a few leaks from my eye haha.
What a journey that was, I feel it was a great honor for him to share that story and warning with us.

I was welling up at work listening to Lockmorts story had to hold it back as I’m at a clients house and he would find it quite weird if the trades man was balling while painting his ceiling 😂. Great ep and I’m not even a cryer usually 👍🏻

Nothing screams America quite like a cop giving a 19 year old camera man an AR-15 in the vicinity of a bunch of school children

I had a very weird dream about an application interview for a job where Colin was to be my manager or something. He kept making fun of every answer I had. Do I think he's genuinely like that? No. Can't control dreams. Should not listen to LSM so much maybe. 🤕

I couldn't agree more. It is the only horror movie I've seen that still unsettles the hell out of me on repeated viewings. Every year I watch one horror movie each day of October. Hereditary has been my movie for Halloween night since it came out.

Lockmort’s storytelling is A-1 top tier, and Ari Aster and Midsommar are incredible. The extended directors cut from A24s website is awesome as well

Man, this Lockmort story about his dad has me so sucked in and emotional... Not watching, it's obvious the rest of the team is too, because it's deafening silence aside from Lock. Definitely bring him back for other stuff, including Constellation. Absolutely excellent addition.

I agree with Dag that’s content. Don’t have to be full on Howard Stern or driving a wedge between each other but some of that is good. You can’t A.I. that.

I wonder who it is in Colin’s life that drilled the word “mega” into his vocabulary. Use of the word has increased like 500% recently.

I have a really great custom home theater system that I’ve been building for a decade now. I’m constantly upgrading it. Anyway me and Mrs watched hereditary full blast and it freaked us out. This is the scariest movie we have ever seen. Mind blowing shit. We are horror buffs and this is the 🐐

I really appreciated Lock's story about his dad. Having gone through losing both parents, my heart broke for him. He sounds like he was a great parent. Hate it for him that the mother was not great to them through this process in the end. Really appreciate him sharing this story with us all.

Sleep gate just really seems to be a misunderstanding, and when you add 1000s of listeners into that, it gets bigger than it really was.
As a listener it was awkward. But that happens not only on LSM but every podcast I’ve ever listened to. I imagine it’s hard to always be in sync as hosts.
