If that isn't textbook "underestimating your opponent", I don't know what is.

2025-02-10 13:55:53 +0000 UTCKaratsuki, rsyleigh literally said that sky people called the haki "mantra", meaning the way enel and his disciples predicted movements and attacks was observation haki, and really advanced too, he can see the future too, like katakuri, since what they do is predicting all the movements the people around are gonna make,this already is problematic to katakuri in this fight just like it was for enel whrn fihhting luffy, since he evades and moves erraticly and he didnt make decisions until last moment, so even if they know he is trying to move in a direction, they didnt exactly know how he is moving, which makes luffy unpredictable in that aspect, he moves like for instinct this was confirmed in the manga and by oda in the q&a he usually publish, saying that 1. The fight didnt end and 2. luffy was just lucky because he is rubber so is inmune, since enel was powerful enough to disintegrate an entire island, that is some power level we didnt see until the new world, and from yonkos or viceadmirals only

2025-02-10 06:38:08 +0000 UTCIt makes total sense for Luffy to be massively more durable than Katakuri is, since he is rubber and is used to it whereas Katakuri isn't either of those. That isn't the issue. But when you let a character take such a massive beating, over and over and over, then it starts to feel cheap. Because if a character will always rise back up no matter what happens, then that is functionally the same as having an invulnerable character. It starts to cheapen and reduce the stakes. This is made much worse by Toei padding the stuff so much, and some of the padding is just "let's just let Luffy take more attacks", because that is easy to add in the middle without looking like filler. It's one of my only minor gripes about OP.

2025-02-10 06:36:36 +0000 UTCTry to right click the video, copy the video URL, and watch it on the streamable site instead of the embedded player on patreon. This works for me 95% of the time. Couple times I have instead routed my internet through a VPN, and that has fixed it, since my regular routing must have had an issue between my ISP and streamable servers. I used Urban VPN Proxy which is a free Firefox extension. Don't rely on free VPNs to do stuff in general though or enter any sensitive or personal info. But using it to avoid a routing issue is fine.

I assume you're referring to what happens at the tail end of Wano and later, but again, none of that specifically addressed why Luffy is such an enormous punching bag. The reason why Luffy can soak so many hits has always been clear, narrative wise, hes made of rubber and hes the main character which lets Oda get him back up as many times as he wants

Enel was easily Admiral level, hell if dude trained with color of arms i'd be more than convinced he could 1v1 any of the previous 3 Admirals, he's already stronger than them in his DF ability usage
