Horses!

For me, one of the more exciting and useful features of this new line of minis is the inclusion of mounts for the characters. As I'm busy galloping through the line art for the new Elf Mage set, getting it nice and polished so I can move on to the colours, I thought I might share some of the "pencil" art work of these elegant creatures for your enjoyment!
It may surprise you all, but I'm incredibly new to drawing horses! In fact, the first horse I've ever really drawn was the one included with the Templar (I drew both poses more or less simultaneously, but I finished the idle horse pose first, if you were curious). I've had to learn a tremendous amount about horse anatomy, body language, movement and a whole bunch about the riding tack and equipment! It's been a fun ride, and I think I'm getting better at drawing these magnificent animals. I've had a lot of help in my equine education, particularly from my buddy Tearable Monsters, a true cowboy, who really knows his stuff when it comes to horses! He's also doing paper minis, and you should definitely check him out!
A few people have asked if I plan to have unique mounts for every Champion, and the answer is "yes"! I may land up reusing horses one day, but even then I'd redo the tack and modify the horse to suit the character who owns it. As I get more comfortable drawing horses, I'll try to get even more interesting and dynamic with the poses.
