Frieren Ep 27

OH MY GOD ITS ALMOST OVER NOOOOOOOOOO

Comments

It makes sense now why Sense is the proctor for the 2nd exam. In the 4 exams she'd done prior to this one nobody passed, and I feel like 12:57 is the reason for that. Sense previously stated that she hates the thought of promising mages dying to these exams, so if the 3rd exam normally kills anyone that isn't qualified to be a 1st class, she'd rather just make sure that the only people who can pass the 2nd exam are people strong enough to beat a replica of a current 1st class mage

If Sense is the guardian, they would do the same as they do against Frieren, and come up with a plan first. I think they have it in them to come up with a plan to win against her, I mean Denken, Methode and Land stuck together so it isnt like the group there is not heavy hitters. Land lost here, so maybe he loses there too, but most would probably still pass.

Ubel was one of the last ones to reach the bottom, and no one was expecting her to be able to take on Sense (except for her and Sense). So the group likely wouldn't have waited for her before trying to figure out how to handle the guardian (which would 100% have been Sense), and a lot of them would have failed or died.

13:00 - Actually I don't think Frieren helped the group. Maybe she helped Kanne and Lawine pass in the first test, though they might have been able to pass with a different 3rd member too, we don't really know, that test was a lot of luck and a lot of fighting other test takers. It'd go way different without Frieren's plan. But in the 2nd test, her presence there, if anything, made things more difficult, not less. If Frieren isn't there, then neither is her replica, so the door guardian would have been probably Denken or Sense, both of which are much easier to take on. So I think the same people would've likely passed without Frieren there too. Ubel would be able to take Sense out easily, and Denken's copy could probably be handled by Denken and a few others for backup.

I think my favourite part about the story of Himmel and Frieren's first meeting is that it showed Frieren *recognizing* that she was acting cold and scary. So she adjusted, to make him feel more comfortable and safe. This was BEFORE she had her major character development of learning to empathize and to *show* that empathy, when she was traveling with Himmel & Co. To me it proves that she's always been like that, but it was a skill she wasn't very proficient in. She just needed the practice :)

I would have tucked the staff under the covers and read it a bedtime story as it drifted to sleep on Fern's pillow =)

Series's problem was with sense? Sense chose the second test because of frieren. It was a good test for frieren but ended up as a test that was super easy with teamwork. Sense is at fault but still tried her best to test frieren, that is what serie said. Lernen admitted that frieren would be too strong for any test he could create but many others would still end up dying. That is why serie took over.

assuming i understood what you were trying to say correctly, the only one who benefitted from frieren's experience was fern, so that's at best a single person. everyone else made it through their own skill and knowledge, or by listening to what denken told them, not frieren. so, if anyone could be blamed for others passing, it's denken, but even that's a stretch.

They are also racing against the clock. Fern lacks enthusiasm for dungeon exploration and tends to be passive in team situations (refer to the second round, she wasn't the one making decisions). Frieren, on the other hand, studied the dungeon and taught Fern on what to be aware of along the way, this insight has also influenced amongst other candidates. Knowledge definitely plays a huge part in saving lives inside the dungeon.

hmm, not really sure if agreeing with series is a good thing though. after all, agreeing with the aloof hardhead, who constantly misjudges and belittles others for no good reason, might not be the best testament of character. Edit: not to mention, what series said is is kinda bs anyways. i mean, what did frieren actually do during the second selection? the only people who travelled alongside frieren in the dungeon were fern and sense, neither of whom needed frieren's help to make it, so everyone else who made it to the inner sanctum, made it on their own power, without frireren having anything to do with them making it through. and as for battles, the only fight frieren took part in was against her own copy, which again doesn't effect any of the other participants in anyway. if anything, if frieren haddn't been around, neither would have been her copy, which was the only one who gave the others any trouble at all. they took care of all the other copies by themselves just fine. so claiming that frieren allowed anyone to pass is just ignoring facts and insulting others for no reason.

Serie talks a lot of shit but never follows through, she's just a softie

Michael

Series just CANNOT HELP HERSELF. All her actions must contradict with her words.

Makes sense the guy's magic worked on Fern's staff. It's metal and wood, both things that come from the earth.

serie out here with the same voice as Killua

Excellent example of the fact that English originated in Germany. It's why so many English words are spelt/pronounced very similar to their German counterparts.

German in this Ep: Lernen = Learn/to study Falsch = Incorrect/wrong

"Magic that creates flowerbeds is stupid, Flamme" thought Serie as she conducted a test in a room filled with flowerbeds. "I really should stop taking human apprentices" said Serie as she took another human apprentice. "Not going to get sad when this one gets old and dies" said Serie as she got sad when her apprentice got old and died. I love her character. I never really took her digs on her old apprentice as being meant as a criticism on him, more her voicing her disappointment/sadness that it took him his entire lifetime to start living up to what she considered his potential. Also, Grandma Serie just honing in on her great-grand apprentice. Not to mention the story going further into just how down bad Himmel was for Frieren. Guy really was crushing on her for most of his life.
