2024-10-19 16:10:02 +0000 UTCdressrosa is a good arc, it's just super duper long and parts of the arc just drags on and because it is a long arc it feels longer then it should be. i guess a good thing watching someone else watch it is instead of taking it week by week which was probably crucial to how it feels watching dressrosa was a drag is that it doesn't feel like it's a drag when all the episode are out. This feels more like I'm enjoying the arc with alicia.

So yeah waiting week by week after learning about Sabo, after the toys turning back, the episodes onwards from this point of view. It felt like months passed by waiting just 7 days for the next episode. But when that episode landed, I was in pure heaven for the next 2 or 3 days just from excitement.

God Ussop is the point in Dressrosa where the good guys FINALLY start taking Ws. It sets up Luffy and Zoro for a massive counterattack, Sabo Inherits Aces powers, and Rebecca gets her father back.

He ain't got time to listen to all your exposition when he could be eating meat or punching bitch ass hoes in the FACE. With that said, gotta give Luffy a pass on this one. Viola's explanation was perfect, but it was also the first Luffy was hearing about the toy situation. Every other time this arc where "THE TOYS ARE PEOPLE!!" came up, Luffy wasn't there to hear it. All Luffy knew was that the Tontottas wanted to save their friends and were being led by the Toy Soldier. So Luffy's confusion here is warranted as he was out of the loop.

There are few manga/anime so good at building up a villain and show how in control they are of everything, only to completely tear away everything they have build up in an instant. Luffys hands might be rated E for Everyone, but Sabos are rated R for Revolution. And it is interesting how pretty much every child that spends time near Garp just decides to go full "Fuck the Government". I feel like it really says a lot about the guy. And finally ,we have arrived at the moment. Usopp finally fulfilling his destiny. Becoming a God. Yet another moment I have been waiting for, for more than 600 episodes.

For the pacing thing, the main issue with Dressrosa's pacing is more how much it stretched out things from the manga. While Skypeia had slower pacing as well, that was more in line with how things went in the manga, so what weaknesses it has are more on how well you like that content of the arc. While in Dressrosa, the anime padded TF out it, so the pacing issues were mostly on the anime itself. But also yes, overall, it seems the ones who have the most issue with Dressrosa are those who were watching it week to week. That does seem to be an overall trend where the 'worst pacing' for an arc, is whatever arc you started reading/watching week to week at.

So although Dressrosa is technically worse in the anime, I also agree that overall it is more enjoyable and engaging. Excluding personal preferences over the saga, of course. TL;DR: I think the anime did Dressrosa dirty.

The lighting and contrast, not to mention Hajrudin looks so much larger in the manga giving the whole scene a larger than life feel. He towers above them holding Usopp up in the sunlight as it frames his bloody silhouette making him literally look like Jesus. The sight making people watching cry in awe. It's fucking hilarious.
