Bit spoilery so don't read on if you don't want some minor campaign spoilers: **MINOR CAMPAIGN SPOILERS BELOW*** The tree that grew out of Vorugal was not actually a combo attack by Keyleth and Vex. It is one of the traits of the awakened Fenthras bow. Fenthras has flavor text that when an enemy is slain by Fenthras, it plants a seed in their body that immediately sprouts a tree at the age of ~10 years. Vex got the "How do you want to do this" that episode, and it was amazing. Yenk is a type of creature called a Goristro. During the campaign, it was suggested that the Spire of Conflux (a staff that went to Keyleth) was with a Goristro in the 9 Hells. During their trip to Hell, they learned of the name of the Goristro, who had the staff within their body. They knew they were fighting Vorugal soon, and decided to kill two birds with one stone: Kill Vorugal, and also get another Vestige, they had luckily found a scroll that allowed them to summon any creature to them as long as they knew the name of that creature. They summoned Yenk to fight Vorugal first, whittle down his health, and then they would jump in to finish him off. But of course, best lain plans... But it *did* work out in the end, and they managed to finish Vorugal *and* Yenk which got them a step closer to defeating Thordak AND got another vestige. Finally, Scanlan's fuck room is actually a spell called Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion, it is a 7th level spell, which the casters in the party just recently got access to around the time of their Vorugal fight. It became the source of a lot of incredible scenes and jokes. There's one particular joke involving a hot tub that I'm really hoping they include in the series. Laura, you're a fucking madman for doing that.

2024-10-14 06:25:06 +0000 UTCSomething I like about this episode is that there is a significantly high chance that this was written as a reference to D'Arby the Gambler arc from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders (Part 3), as Matt Mercer has mentioned that he has been a JoJo fan since 1995 when he saw the (OVA) Jotaro vs DIO fight in a Con he attended, as well as being the English VA for Jotaro in the 2012 onwards version of JJBA

2024-10-13 11:49:41 +0000 UTCEven though he used Mythcarver to kill a dragon, I feel like this sword doesn't truly compliment Scanlan's skill set as a bard. Unlike the other party members with their vestiges. So far we've seen Scanlan use magic to form illusions to distract enemies, summon a giant purple hand for offense and utility, polymorph into animals, and shoot lightning out of his dick. Close combat isn't his style. So I don't think Mythcarver is a good fit for Scanlan as a weapon in combat, Which Kima demonstrated when she used it on Vorugal

2024-10-12 22:57:44 +0000 UTCScanlan doesn't exactly have the best armor, so he stayed in the rear as support and hardly ever used myth carver. It was a whole thing in campaign 1 lol

2024-10-12 20:32:48 +0000 UTC18:08 In the actual campaign he almost never used Mythcarver after he got it, he would focus on bardic inspiration and other spells and tried to stay out of melee range

2024-10-12 14:44:47 +0000 UTCDude that thorn arrow was some Cu Culin shit ! (context, cu culin has a spear that when stabbed into someone, a bunch of thorns flow out of it basically turning the inside of said stab victim into a thorn bush)

2024-10-12 12:37:17 +0000 UTCFun Fact: That fight between the demon and dragon did happen in the campaign, but only after used a scroll to cast a high level teleportation spell to bring the demon from hell. He then mind controlled it to wait to fight the dragon when it showed up. Their is another major difference to be pointed out but it hasn’t been fully addressed in the show yet
