Obviously there's a difference in episode length between the two shows so this analogy is like if you had watched only a third of GoT's pilot episode for some reason lol

2023-04-04 21:57:42 +0000 UTCI am glad Vinland Saga won, I am so hyped and interested in watching your reactions. It is a bit slow start compared to AoT, but it gets better and better. I do not know what genre you guys enjoy, but I hope this show satisfies your interests. I must note that AoT is a shounen show - meaning it is directed towards a young male (teens) audience (I know, even though the themes are mature, it was released in a manga aimed at a 'shounen' audience). VS, on the other hand, is 'seinen', which is aimed towards an older and mature audience ('seinen' is for older males, while 'jousei' is for older females). This will be reflected in the themes and tones of this show - just an FYI!

This series isn’t always as high octane as AoT, but the characters are all so human and the moments where you can see growth are so satisfying and touching. Really excited for this! You guys always have interesting takes and are so good at picking up on and appreciating details!

Someone pointed out in an earlier comment that AOT is set in Europe - there's an actual city that Shiganshina was based off of. It's called Nordlingen in Germany. Also yea, AoT is the exception to the rule. AoT is an experience. VS is an anime, albeit an exceptional one with minimal tropes. I hope you enjoy it. It is interesting, but it is very likely nothing will ever match AoT. It's ok if you don't like it, I don't like anime either anymore. Very few animes are good enough to get me onboard.

Vinland is somewhere around the Gulf of Saint Lawrence it's thought. It's context for the anime, not from the anime.

They're a unique thing to animes that animators put a lot of effort in that shouldn't just be experienced once you've watched everything. They're supposed to set you in a certain mood and give a little sneak peak of what to expect. Sometimes they're nothing more than trailers. I understand that AoT ops had major spoilers (with Rumbling being the worst offender, lmfao), but the first op of Vinland Saga doesn't really spoiler the plot if they have no context, lol. It just shows all the relevant characters, that's pretty much it.

Carter you are in for a ride just to warn you, this show is imo more graphic than AOT for frequency of it being shown. S1 was done by Wit but S2 they switched to Mappa so you heard correctly on both parts. Btw, i apologize for my impatient comment about wanting faster uploads. I had just finished drinking and gaming with a buddy and wanted to see a new upload but shouldn't touch the keyboard during times like that. I appreciate how much work it is to do this and am sorry you guys are dealing with all this bs. Love watching all of your reactions and i cant wait...i CAN wait but am excited to see more of your reactions to this show :p Few quick things-DON'T watch the intro. IRL Vinland is what is now eastern canada but we don't know exactly where Leif Eriksson landed. Translates to either "the land of wild grapes" or "the land of wine" because of how fertile the soil was.

The first opening is safe to watch after episode 5, it's not like has a direct spoiler, but it does hint what the show will be about and can take away some "surprise" factor, but after episode 5 is all good, no spoilers at all. The second opening tho, that's another business, don't watch that one.

Btw Briggs said that the vibe feels different (unlike Naruto and AOT) because they aren’t in Japan speaking Japanese. Even thought AOT is in a fictional world, it’s hinted that they are Europeans. You can tell by their name/last names, architecture and how they are drawn (brown and blond hair).
