Alkehestry isnt purely medicinal but its just used that way most of the time. the main difference between alchemy and alkehestry is where they draw the power from and how its performed but it still has the same purpose.

Making stones isn't common knowledge, even remembering how many weeks it took for Ed and Al to decode Marcoh's notes to even discover what the ingredients to a stone were. All alchemy can be looked at as different areas of research. In the same way that it took a lifetime for Hawkeye's father to fully research flame alchemy.

I actually think the original non-manga canon FMA is still a great show, and it's interesting to have two full series that start at the same point with the same characters but go on to tell two very different stories. It's like a weird anime "what if" alternate universe. They are also similar in length, with FMA being 50 episodes and a movie, and FMAB being about 60.

2024-03-02 19:11:18 +0000 UTCOh, on Marco not teaching them how to destroy stones, im pretty sure it's because they'd have to have a complete knowledge on how stones work, how to make them and such, in order to destroy them. Marco isn't using alkahestry, just alchemy. There's such things as medical alchemy, it's just that alkahestry is typically used for medicinal purposes whereas alchemy is for fighting. They both are capable of building, destroying, healing, they just have different sources of power.

So Marco being probably one of the only alchemist left alive that did all that research on it he knew how to force all the energy/souls out of it. All envy has left is the part of "father's" sou-his envy-l that was originally split off. I never put it together until you guys mentioned it awhile back comparing envy and mahito but I totally see it. And I feel the same way about the two of them, they're absolute horrible bastard monsters but they're so damn entertaining at the same time.

State alchemists usually have their brand of alchemy branded on them or something to make it easier to invoke their abilities

2024-03-02 12:18:44 +0000 UTCTo answer the question at the end, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (FMAB) isn't technically a remake, as it kind of changes the story that was told in the original. Fullmetal Alchemist (FMA), began airing when the manga was still very new. The first 20ish episodes of FMA, are accurate to the manga. However, the anime quickly caught up to the manga, so Bones made their own story from that point onwards. The manga continued to be insanely popular, so towards the end of the mangas publication, Bones decided to make FMAB. FMAB skips over some of the stuff that FMA went over (Like Yoki's backstory), but is more accurate to the manga, and tells the same story the manga tells in the later chapters, with the same ending, compared to how FMA deviates after the first 20ish episodes. FMA is still worth watching though. It's just not as good as FMAB Also, yes, we need a binge for the last 20ish episodes. Also also, please watch the Bloopers after. Loads of great moments and jokes
