Fro example, I think Obito x Kakashi is a much better fight because it's filled with story and emotion and every little movement tells a story, the flashback back and forth, the music, it's a masterpiece.

I want to be more specific that we will see fights that push character developments later on in future arcs. So compared to those, Sukuna Maho isnt all that impressive in that aspect.

It also served to showcase what peak Megumi would have to look like in order to reach the level of his ancestor who fought the Six Eyes of the past.

2024-03-24 19:31:33 +0000 UTCI will say all of us should enjoy this fight and thank everyone involved because with no exaggeration these types of animation feats are very hard to come by. It's not budget, it almost rarely is in anime, it's the team that gets assembled to achieve these episodes and it's not MAPPA doing the heavy lifting calling these people but it's animators being friends and asking for favours and if the stars align we get this fight. This episode is above and beyond what the manga was so in this sense I'll keep this fight in a suspended state in regards to canon because it does show how Mahoraga and Sukuna are very strong but it does so in a very bombastic manner. We can only pray to everything that we get the same quality in S3-4 because MAPPA has ruined some relationships with animators as a result of the horrible working conditions in S2. So if as a result we can't achieve these same heights (which in relation to episode 17 is definitely a certainty because such a episode is almost unique) we should keep in mind that canonically this fight is 70% of what the anime shows. That being said no matter how badly this affects canon I will never pass up the chance to witness how these talented animators want to express themselves. Thank you to all the hardworking staff.

2024-03-24 14:23:33 +0000 UTCThe way I interpreted this fight is that there's supposed to be a bit of incomprehensibility and difficulty in following what's going on, because it's like we're observing god-like figures that we can't fully comprehend, it's a way of showing how high-level the fight is I like how they did it, because it wasn't like that throughout the whole fight, but just for certain cuts

More meaningful fights contributing to character themes and developments will be in the future arcs tho, so I cant wait to see them animated and for you guys to react to them.

2024-03-24 05:03:01 +0000 UTCOther than the new scenes which I of course love, there are two revisions to existing scenes that I really, really like, and noticed immediately as I've watched the original TV version of the episode probably a dozen times now. 1) The subtle 1 to 1.5 second delay added before the music starts when Sukuna begins his domain expansion. That extra little bit of complete silence really adds to the impact. 2) The girl's hand holding the phone. In the original the "slices" just pour over like an overlapping layer. In the redone scene, it shows each individual finger being sliced into many pieces, then the phone being pulverized/atomized bit by bit.
