As far as Tywin and Tyrion - Tyrion has been out of commission, healing for weeks. You heard Tyrion say that his father never came to visit his sick bed. So Cersei has been saying whatever she wanted to Tywin about how Tyrion behaved as the Acting Hand. Plus Pycelle is a Tywin simp with a big grudge against Tyrion. None of that justifies Tywin’s cruelty and total lack of respect for Tyrion. But it does go a ways toward explaining how he doesn’t understand how effective Tyrion was as Acting Hand. Jamie became a King’s Guard at age 16 under the Mad King Aerys Targaryen. He was happy to do so because Cersei was living at Court with their father, who was the Hand to Aerys Targaryen at that time. So he thought becoming a King’s Guard would mean living in the same location as Cersei. However, Tywin was so angry at Aerys making Tywin’s heir a King’s Guard that he resigned as the Hand and went back to Casterly Rock, taking Cersei with him. It then became apparent to Jamie that Aerys was using him in order to slight his father. Jamie was the biggest loser in the whole situation. Barristan Selmy had also been a member of the King’s Guard under Aerys Targaryen. He was severely wounded in the battle where Robert killed the Crown Prince Rhaeger Targaryen. Because Robert had such respect for Barristan Selmy he sent a Maester to heal him and then later asked him to serve on his King’s Guard, where he became the Lord Commander. It was a bit unusual for Barristan to join the King’s Guard of the king who took the throne by conquest from the previous king he had served. But as far as Barristan was concerned, all the Targaryens were dead, except for a child and an infant who had been smuggled across the Narrow Sea. So he accepted Robert’s offer. Once Joffrey dismissed him, he decided to seek out Daenerys. Not all who served the Targaryens were forgiven by Robert. Ser Alliser Thorne was banished to the Wall for fighting on the side of the Targaryens. But Robert recognized that having a legendary knight, like Ser Barristan would bolster his legitimacy as the new king. You guys should keep track of your predictions for each season and review them once the entire series is over. I think you would find it interesting, just as I do listening to your predictions now.

A few Lannister clarifications that the book does a better job at explaining. Tywin: HATES drinking and prostitutes because his father was a drunk who went to bed with many whores and he almost ruined the lannister legacy. Tywin has some disdain or trauma towards that depravity now....Additionally: Jaime was the young goat at battling however he became a Kings Guard because The mad King wanted to slight Tywin by taking away his heir, so he made Jaime a Kingsguard as a diss to Tywin. So Jaime didnt only do it for Cercei, its just his reasoning for being okay with the Mad Kings decision.

Regarding why Tywin has such a low opinion of how Tyrion did his job as Hand of the King, the books are a little more clear than the show. Basically, Cersei is the one who gives Tywin most of the feedback about what Tyrion was doing as Hand (Tyrion himself is missing for weeks as he heals from his wounds). Followed by others such as Pycelle. So he got a really negative view of Tyrion being mad with power and doing reckless stuff. The people who really know how much Tyrion did behind the scenes are Varys and Bronn, and Varys isnt going to get involved in this. Combine this with Tywin's strong preconceived opinion of Tyrion and you can see why he thinks the way he does.

All the northerners living in Harrenhall were killed and the castle pillaged before Robb got there. That way Robb would have no support when he took the castle. The Mountsin left there with Tywin’s orders to ravage the countryside. Right now Littlefinger was given Harrenhall by Joffrey. Catelyn and Robb are there now with Robb’s army. The actor who plays Jon Snow broke his ankle before season 3 started. Sometimes they used a double for him or they changed some of his scenes in the beginning of the season to work around it. They were filming in Iceland

It’s because they aren’t watching the history and lore videos. They don’t understand what happened with Tywin before the show started. How the mad King appointed Jamie so Jamie could not inherit Casterly Rock. The lore videos are meant to fill in the history so when each new season starts you know about the history that affects each character. They are going to be a little lost throughout the show because of it. But it is still an awesome reaction!

Quick note: The mad King Aerys II appointed Jaime to the kingsguard to insult Tywin who was the hand of the King at the time, due to jealousy as the court said he (Tywin) was the true ruler of the kingdoms not Aerys (behind his back). Cersei was betrothed to prince Rhaegar Targaryen but again to insult Tywin, Aerys joined Rhaegar and princess Elia Martell of Dorne in Marriage. When Robert rebelled Tywin joined the Baratheon and Lannisters as he intended with the Targaryens.
